He was buried in the North Section of Batavia Cemetery in Branch Co, veteran of Co I 1st MI L A (tombstone; MSS v41 p216; Coldwater Courier Sep 5 1896 p2; Bronson Journal index Sep 4 1896; GRCx). Death record did not show his father's first name or mothers maiden name, both born in NY (BRA/DR; MI/DRx 1-129). 189x. Clark Sherman, a Ovid Twp farmer and civil war veteran, on the late 19th century, sought and received from the US Government the property on Coldwater Lake in Ovid Twp. The property was to become "Sans Souci Beach," a summer retreat for some of Coldwater's leading citizens (1984 History of Branch Co MI v1p56).
