We are also inquiring about renting a commercial pop corn popper. Movie selection will be a family film suitable for all ages. Full details will be reported when finalized.

Interest Groups

·  The development of small group activities was briefly discussed. A book club, bunco group and wine tasting event were recommended. These activities are better suited for fall and winter months and the committee plans to promote these events by placing sign-up sheets at our summer events. We are enthused about developing some fun social groups and encourage residents to consider one or more of these enjoyable ways to get to know your neighbors. The committee will continue the discussion at the next meeting and keep you informed as plans develop.

Christmas Lights Contest – The contest has been discontinued due to a lack of interest.

Communication:

Welcome

·  The committee believes the most important aspect of our new resident welcome protocol is a personal visit to share information, answer questions, and provide a point of contact. Our goal is to have a member of the Communications Committee arrange a visit to new residents within a week of move-in. A welcome packet and small gift will be delivered at that time. Lisa Diffley will explore gift ideas discussed by the committee and will also update the welcome packet. The committee will continue to develop a welcome visit procedure, which includes asking if the new residents would like to be introduced in our newsletter. It is recommended that the President and appropriate zone director arrange to introduce themselves to new residents at a later date.

Website

·  The website contains some outdated content. Lisa Diffley will review and prepare updated information for approval by the committee members and Bob Harris. We hope to have the site fully updated by early June.

E-newsletter

·  The committee favors a semi-annual e-newsletter which contains a calendar of events, community information and feature articles. Orene Harder suggested an article featuring one of our zone directors in each edition. The committee will discuss content at the next meeting. Lisa Diffley will serve as developer/editor. Residents: Please send your newsletter ideas to .

Next meeting: Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the home of Orene Harder, 817 S. Shelley Lake Lane. If you would like to join us, please email Lisa Diffley at .
