There will be an Open, Ranch, and Pro-Novice class in the morning and afternoon of each day this year.

Judge: Chris Chambers

Start Time:9 am(with first handlers meeting at 8:30am)

Sheep:Dorsets

Fee: $40 per Open run, $35 for Ranch, $30 for Pro-Novice per day

Non-Compete entries welcome.

Please get your entries in early. There will be no refunds after September 28, 2018.

Directions: From Route 8, Exit at Boston Mills Road and head east to Akron Peninsula Road and take to the dead end.

We will have limited on-site campingwithout electrical hookup.

  • Days Inn, Richfield – 8 miles 330-659-6151

We welcome you to use the pavilion for dinner plans and will provide you with a list of our favorite area restaurants in Peninsula and Hudson.

We have our annual handlers/volunteer/sponsor potluck/BYOB on Saturday evening.

We will provide a map of all our favorite nearby sites in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Peninsula, and Hudson.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  1. Please cleanup after your dogs if they relieve themselves on mowed lawn or participant walk areas.
  2. Please put all waste & trash in bags attached to the fences.
  3. Each participant shall sign a release of liability and an acknowledgement that they are assuming all risks ofparticipation. Each sheep shall have a value of $400. If a sheep is injured requiring medical attention, must beeuthanized or is killed, the participant must pay the $400. The decision will be made by the Trial Director and is final.
  4. This trial is open to all handlers who agree to the rules and all breeds of dogs.
  5. It is anticipated that 3-5 head of sheep shall be used for each run. They are a commercial flock of production polled Dorsets of various ages.
  6. The dog that earns the most points wins the class.
  7. In the event of a tie, first place ties are resolved by a run off. Other ties are decided by outwork..
  8. There shall be a handlers’ meeting at 8:30am (or time stated on Running Orders) each day and immediatelybefore the start of each class.
  9. Disqualifications – A dog shall be disqualified if any head of sheep jump a fence or hit a fence during a run.Excessive gripping, or out of control behavior toward livestock and/or lack of progress will be cause fordisqualification also. Disqualification will result in the loss of all points for the class. Hitting, striking orpoking stock with a cane or stick may result in some point deductions, if in the opinion of the Trial Directorthe handler made an overt movement with the stock or cane for the purpose of causing stock to move in adesired direction or manner.
  10. Early Termination – A handler may terminate a run early by notifying the time keeper and Trial Director,retaining any points earned up to termination. The Trial Director at their discretion may order a re-run, adjustpoints, stop the clock and restart or make any other decision necessary if outside interference unfairlyinterferes with any particular run.
  11. Please display good sportsmanship. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
