United Way of Midland County welcomesFood Network Star Chef Jeff Henderson
United Way is excited to welcome Chef Jeff Henderson as their 2012 United Way Community Kick-off presenter on September 12th. Jeff is an award-winning chef, New York Times best-selling author and Food Network personality.
Chef Jeff grew up on the tough streets of Central Los Angeles and began dealing drugs as a teen. Henderson was “rescued from the streets” when he was arrested and sent to prison. He discovered a passion for cooking and committed himself to turning his life around. With persistence, determination and many strong mentors, he was able to achieve his dreams, becoming the executive chef of Café Bellagio in Las Vegas.
Jeff will share his recipe for overcoming the barriers of true success and the power of potential. Committed to mentoring youth, he will also be working with culinary students at Windover High School to prepare his favorite desserts for everyone in attendance to enjoy.
The kick-off will be held on September 12th at 6:30 p.m. at the MidlandCenter for the Arts. Tickets for this exciting event will go on sale August 15th, with prices starting at $10 per person or $25 for VIP seating. Tickets will be available through September 12th, with a limited number of tickets available at the door.
In addition, tickets for an exclusive 5-course tasting party will also be available for $60 each, which includes VIP seating at Jeff’s presentation and entry to the tasting party. Featuring many of Chef Jeff’s favorite recipes, these dishes will be prepared and served by the Windover students from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Garden Room on September 12th. Seating for the exclusive tasting party is very limited and tickets will not be available at the door.
Tickets to both events are available at the MidlandCenter for the Arts box office, by calling (989) 631-8250 or visiting
