POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title:Finance Officer

Immediate Supervisor:Business Manager

Purpose of Position:

Process financial data and maintain accurate financial records of Sharing Places Incorporated. Compile Service Agreements and liaise with participants regarding the financial aspects of NDIS plans.

Functions and Responsibilities:

Work as part of a team to undertake any of the following duties:

  • work under general direction to ensure that the service provided is conducted in accordance with Sharing Places’ Vision Statement and Policy and Procedures, all relevant legislative and industrial relations requirements and conditions of funding;
  • perform book-keeping duties using a reasonable degree of judgement, initiative, confidentiality and sensitivity;
  • use specialised skills and knowledge of MYOB and Excel, to maintain accurate financial records;
  • process the payroll and maintain payroll records including leave entitlements,and remit monthly superannuation and union fees;
  • undertake regular reconciliations in relation to banking, credit cards, each group’s petty cash, and other general ledger accounts;
  • process client invoices and maintain accounts receivable records, facilitate debt collection as required;
  • process NDIS claims and utilise the PRODA portal;
  • Compile Service Agreements and liaise with participants regarding the financial aspects of NDIS plans;
  • process supplier invoices and necessary follow-up;
  • be responsible for banking, cash on hand and petty cash for programs;
  • regularly back up accounting data;
  • undertake back up reception duties;
  • use a reasonable level of communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, parents and significant others;
  • maintain a professional standard of work performance and update knowledge and skills by actively participating in personal, professional and service development opportunities;
  • undertake other duties and special projects as required.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications and/or Training:

  • knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to management of the organisation’s finances;
  • sound knowledge of the principles of financial management;
  • knowledge of the role of the organisation, its structure and function.
  • The prerequisites for entry to this level would be :

-relevant degree with relevant experience (2 years); OR

-Associate Diploma with substantial experience (3 years); OR

-qualifications in more than one relevant discipline; OR

-less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level (5 years); OR

-attained through previous appointments, service and / or study, an equivalent level of experience and expertise to undertake the range of activities required.

Salary and Conditions:

Pay/Annum:Level 4, as per Sharing Places’ Pay Scales

Conditions:As per Sharing Places’ Employee Collective Agreement

Hours of Work:Monday – Friday up to 38 hours per week, as negotiated

Leave Entitlements:as per contract or pro rata 4 weeks annual leave, some of which must be taken during service closure over Christmas period.
