SUBJECT:Norman Campus Shared Leave 2013 Annual Report

The following information represents the 2013 Annual Report of the Norman Campus Shared Leave Committee. During 2013, the committee approved sixteenapplicants for shared leave. Twelve applicants were not approved to receive shared leave benefits, as their medical conditions did not meet the criteria established for participation in the program.

There were7,531.79hours of shared leave available from staff and faculty donations in 2013 and hours that carried over from 2012. Hours donated in 2013 included5,966hours donated to specific employees and 448.0hours to the shared leave pool. The value of the 2013donated hours was approximately $134,219.18.

The Shared Leave Committee awarded 5,733.51 hours to recipients in 2013. A total of3,790.85hours were taken in 2013 and 1,942.66 hours will carry over to 2014. The total remaining balance of shared leave at the beginning of 2014 equals 2,587 hours.

The University’s funding of shared leave benefits has increased from $25,000 when the program was started in 2001 to the current $50,000 annual budget. Because the number of eligible applicants for shared leave benefits can fluctuate from year to year, the unused funding is carried over into the next calendar year. This carryover of funding is needed due to the significant variability in qualifying applicants experienced since the program was implemented. The chart below of shared leave payments and funding since 2001 shows the significant variability in the amount of annual payments to qualifying employees,
