Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. Lakeville, MA Senior Systems Programmer

  • During my last 5 years at Ocean Spray I functioned as an AIX Unix Systems Administrator. I supported 10 RS/6000 servers on a wide range of models. The AIX levels were AIX 3.25, 4.14/5, and AIX 4.2.1. I wrote shell scripts for system administration purposes and helped users create their own. Each of these 10 servers are set up uniquely with different applications and databases.
  • Installed and used Maestro (for scheduling), BGS Best/1 for performance and capacity management, OnDemand for storage of microfiche images, ArcInfo (for GIS bog mapping images), and various networking tools for the Network Administrators.
  • Helped with the transfer of ADSM from the mainframe to an RS/6000 and helped with backups and restores using ADSM. A Magstar 3575 was attached to the ADSM server for tape storage management and disaster recovery. I participated in an offsite Disaster Recovery test of an AIX server using Sysback and ADSM. ADSM was also used to restore data for Novell and NT servers.
  • The databases used on the systems that I supported were Sybase and Oracle, and DB2 was used for OnDemand. I have a working knowledge of how to check whether databases are up and how to run simple queries. OnDemand used an Optical Reader with platters. I used a ¼ inch tape drive, 8mm, 4mm, and a DLT Jukebox to create Sysback backups.
