SHAC Meeting, April 6th

The SHAC committee met Tuesday, April 6th at 6:30 pm in the Oliver Teachers Lounge. Those in attendance were: Cindy Ford, Joy Bevel, Denise White, Michael Burfiend, Lee Ann Mueller, Teresa Nauert, Virginia Barrientez , Tonya Villanueva and Emery Letz.

New members discussed were Rusty Cavott, Bobby Acosta and Jill Faulks. They will be asked if they would like to join the SHAC for the next meeting and upcoming school year.

Items on the agenda were the upcoming Health Fair on Friday, April 23rd. The SHAC committee will be providing snacks and lunch for all the vendors for this event. The menu was discussed and it was decided to have an array of snack items and sandwiches and chips for lunch.

The next item of business was the “Run for Reel” to be held on May 1st. It was discussed if we needed to have different age groups or if we should start everyone at the same time. We also discussed how much to charge as an entry fee and were to set up headquarters for the event. A t-shirt committee for the event was also named and those for that committee will be: Teresa Nauert, Lee Ann Mueller and Cindy Ford. A flyer will be made and pre- registration for the event will go on and anyone that wants to participate on the day of the event can sign up at the headquarters that will be located at the parking lot of the First Baptist Church. In finality it was decided the event would be held May 1st, with pre-registration from 7:30-8:00 and the run/walk starting at 8:30am. All runners/walkers would start at the same time and everyone run/walk together. We also decided that we would charge $10.00 for individuals and $25.00 for families of 3 or more people.

Other items discussed were issues that schools are faced with today and what we as a committee might can do to offer some constructive suggestions. We also talked about by-laws for the committee and terms of service for members of the SHAC.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm with the next meeting on April 26th at 6:30 pm.
