We want to extend a warm welcome to you and your student to Sierra Vista Junior High. This an exciting time for students and families to start planning for the next school year, including the School Nutrition Program at William S Hart UHSD.

What is theSchool Nutrition Program?

The School Nutrition Program operates under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. The program is a federally funded program that assists schools in providing nutritious meals to children at reasonable prices. For parents, the program offers a convenient method of providing a nutritionally balanced breakfast and lunch at the lowest possible price.

Why School Breakfast program?

Many children do not have the opportunity to eat breakfast on a regular basis because of working parents, long bus rides, or other circumstances. Children may be hungry when they are in class and have challenges staying focused. Studies have shown the ability to learn is enhanced for children who eat a nutritious breakfast and lunch are able to learn better.

What consist of a school lunch and breakfast?

Breakfast: Fruit, Grain, and Fluid Milk; 450-550 calories and restrictive sodium and saturated fat

Lunch: Fruit, Vegetable, Grain, Meat/Meat Alternative and Fluid Milk. 600-700 calories and restrictive sodium and saturated fat

What are the Prices?

Breakfast: $1.75; Reduced $0.00

Lunch: $3.00; Reduced is $0.40

Your student may qualify for free and reduced price for meals.

How can I qualify for Free or Reduce lunch or breakfast?

Complete the William S. Hart UHSD Breakfast/Lunch Application. This application is to be completed every year. If your student is coming from a different school district, you will need to complete the William S. Hart application. An application result letter from the District Office will be mailed to your with your student’s eligibility status. Please retain this letter for future programs offered at your school or community.

Where can I apply?

You can find the application posted at district website at your school main office after July 1st.

What kind of food is served?

We serve wide variety of healthy and delicious options. Our café includes concepts stations such as “Create, So Deli, 2mato, American Classics, and Grill.” These concepts feature “made to order” specials, daily alternating menu, and everyday popular favorites. We also serve snacks and drinks incompliance to state and federal nutritional guidelines. You can find the monthly menu posted at in addition to recipes and newsletters.

How can I pay for breakfast/lunch meals?

Students can pay cash at the register for their meal. For your convenience, parents can add money to their student’s account by visiting You will need your student’s I.D. and select William S Hart School District to add funds. We encourage this method to avoid students losing their money and speediness of lines.
