SFU Student Entrepreneur of the Year 2012

As part of the Organizing Committee for the SFU Student Entrepreneur of the Year (SEY) 2012 program, your term will run from May 2012 to March 2013. In your position, your responsibilities will cover both components of the program – competition and education. The competition will take place on a Saturday in November 2012, while the education aspect will likely span from September 2012 to January 2013. Being part of SEY 2012 is an excellent way to:

·  Apply and develop new skillsets

·  Learn about entrepreneurship

·  Expand your network within SFU and the Vancouver professional and entrepreneurship community

Application Process:
1. Email a 30-second to 90-second video to Chantelle Buffie () that includes:

·  An introduction to yourself

·  Why you’re interested in SIFE and the SEY program

·  Your first and second choice positions

·  Skills and experience that would be valuable to the SEY program and why

·  One unique thing that you can contribute to the SEY program

**Include your name, phone number, year, and concentration in the email**

3. Interviews will occur between Tuesday, May 15, 2012 and Saturday, May 19, 2012.Please note that only qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview.

Job Descriptions:
*The following roles and duties are including, but not limited to.*

1.  Internal Coordinator

Role:
The Internal Coordinator will be responsible for the education component and day-of competition logistics. This individual will be coordinating all of the people, events, venues, and activities in a cohesive and smooth schedule. Additionally, they will be responsible for all administration and documentation for the program.

Duties:

·  Create a comprehensive logistics plan and itinerary for the education component and day-of competition

·  Create a detailed plan for the SEY 2012 volunteers outlining job descriptions, selection, training, and supervision process

·  Responsible for administrative duties such as meeting minutes, room bookings, applicant and attendee registration process, etc.

2.  Marketing Coordinator

Role:
The Marketing Coordinator will be internal facing and responsible for securing the education component participants, competition applicants, and competition attendees from the SFU student community.


Duties:

·  Create a comprehensive marketing plan for the event including the marketing timeline and specific strategies

·  Promote SEY in classroom presentation, and on-campus promotions

·  Build relationships with SFU students and faculty to promote SEY

·  Responsible for all marketing platforms – website, Twitter, Facebook, blog, etc.

3.  External Relations

Role:
The External Relations will be responsible for securing and coordinating all monetary and in-kind sponsorship given to the program. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for overseeing all media outlets to build and maintain the brand of SEY in the public eye.


Duties:

·  Raise sponsorship as set in the initial meeting with the SEY Chair

·  Coordinate the sponsorship dollars, allocation and solicitation

·  Create content for the sponsorship package. Set the sponsorship structure and the benefits to be conveyed to each sponsor

·  Ensure all benefits are conveyed and contracts are fulfilled

·  Work to develop long-term, sustainable relationships with local businesses and corporations

·  Build media relations with local entrepreneurship and business media.

4.  Community Manager

Role:
The Community Manager will be external facing and responsible for coordinating the judges, mentors, speakers, and guests from the Vancouver entrepreneurship and business professional community for the program.

Duties:

·  Develop, organize, and sustain external relationships required for the program

·  Liaise and coordinate with external guests before, during, and after the event

·  Attend external events in order to build and gain awareness of SEY in the local entrepreneurship and business community
