Sewanhaka Central High School District Marching Band
Permission to Participate September 2015-2016
Dear Parents/Guardian,
It is with great pleasure that I inform you that the District Marching Band under the direction of Mr. McKenna will be participating in the 2015 New York City Columbus Day Parade, 2016 New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade and 2015 Belmont Stakes Race Parade. The music department staff from each school within the Sewanhaka Central High School District are working together to provide our band students with outstanding performing experiences in order to develop the District Marching Band into a spectacular performing unit.
The schedule of rehearsals for Columbus Day, St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Belmont Stakes Race Parade is as follows for Band, Percussion, and Color Guard:
Percussion Rehearsal: September 18, 6:00pm-9:00pm, at Floral Park Memorial High School
Percussion Rehearsal: September 28, 6:00pm-9:00pm, at Floral Park Memorial High School
Color Guard Rehearsal: September 28, 6:00pm-9:00pm, at Elmont High School
Full Band & Color GuardRehearsal: Monday, October 5, 6:00pm-8:30pm, at Floral Park Memorial High School
Full Band & Color Guard Rehearsal: Friday, October 9, 6:00pm-8:00 pm, at Floral Memorial High School
Columbus Day Parade: NYC October 12th, time TBA
Full Band & Color GuardRehearsal: Wednesday, March 9, 6:00pm-8:00pm, at Floral Park Memorial High School
Full Band & Color GuardRehearsal: Tuesday, March 15, 6:00pm-8:00 pm, at Floral Park Memorial High School
St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Thursday, March 17, time TBA, in NYC
Full Band Rehearsal: Thursday June 2nd, 6:00pm – 8:00pm, at Floral Park Memorial High School
Belmont Stakes Race Parade: Elmont, June 4th, time TBA
Students should bring snacks, water and their instruments. WEAR SNEAKERS!!! (No flip flops should be worn during rehearsal as we will be marching on different types of surfaces!)

Color Guard members should proceed to Ms. Torres’ website for information. Each building will distribute music for individual practice.
After having such a great 2014 - 2015season with performances in NYC and at Disney World, I know this coming school year is going to be amazing. More information will follow as we approach the date.
