Position Title: Field Agent

Classification: Air Quality Specialist

Compensation: Depending on qualifications

ABOUT THE POSITION

The field agent position is responsible for all work necessary to meet the objective of conducting routine compliance evaluations of all regulated facilities to assure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and permits. The Position reports to the Compliance and Engineering Division Supervisor.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES of the FIELD AGENT POSITION

·  Conducts routine compliance evaluations of qualifying facilities to assure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and permits

·  Observes and documents violations

·  Initiates enforcement action

·  Recommends civil penalty

·  Reports routinely to the Division Supervisor any issues or recommendations

·  Performs on-call duty as assigned

·  Conducts special investigations and projects as assigned; and

·  Performs any other duties, incidental or implied which; as determined by the Executive Director, are in the best interest of the Agency

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·  Some applicable experience in air pollution control

·  High School Graduate

·  MS Office experience (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

·  An equivalent combination of education and experience

·  Possess a valid WA driver’s license and clean driving record

·  Must be able to obtain an EPA Method 9 Visible Emission Certificate within 6 months of employment

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

·  A Bachelor’s Degree in physical science or related field

·  Bilingual, Spanish/English

·  Good communication skills

·  Ability to think clearly during stressful situations

·  Ability to think logically

·  Level-headed and not prone to over-reacting when provoked

·  Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people

·  Ability to read and interpret air pollution regulations

·  Ability to work effectively in the field, alone or in groups

·  Ability to apply enforcement action firmly and fairly to a wide variety of people and businesses under pressure
