4 SCHOLARSHIPS EXCHANGE PROGRAM
“SMILE NOW”
ANNOUNCEMENT OF SELECTION STRICTLY FOR STUDENTS FROM DEVELOPING COUNTRIES FOR EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITES STATIONED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CAGLIARI.
In order to promote international co-operation, particularly with developing countries, the University of Cagliari, supported by “Banco di Sardegna”, are offering , for the year 2013, 4 scholarships for students/Ph.D. candidates/postgraduate students coming from foreign Universities with which our University has a bilateral agreement concerning the GLOBUS Exchange Programme.
The period of stay in our University could last from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 5 months, from the 1st of July to the 31st of December 2013.
ART.1 - APPLICATION
In order to submit the application it is possible to use the attachedform.
In the form the applicant must indicate clearly and precisely under their responsibility:
-their personal details , the date and place of birth, the effective address of their residence (the postal code must be specified and also the telephone number and the e-mail address must be written);
-the Academic Degree course, Ph.D. orpostgraduate course in which they are enrolled;
- as for the postgraduate students, the date, place and vote of graduation has to be specified.
In addition to the application, the applicant must attach the following documents issued on unstamped paper (even with the self-certification in the casesprovided for by the legislation):
a)for students, a certificate of enrollment at the University agreed upon on unstamped paper specifying the exams already taken and their marks;
b)for Ph.D students and for postgraduates, a certificate of enrollment on a Ph.D course and a letter of presentation by the coordinator of the Ph.D/post-lauream course;
c)a CV;
d)a work plan, along with a statement by the referring professor, to carry out at the University of Cagliari.
e)any other documents considered useful by the applicant (e.g: a possible reference letter by a professor), which will be discretionally evaluated by the Committee in charge.
The documents concerning the application has to be anticipated via email ( ) and then sent by mail to Direzione per le Relazioni Internazionali – Settore Mobilità Studentesca – Via San Giorgio n.12 – ingresso 2 – 09124 Cagliari by 14.00 of 28.02.2013.
ART.2 - EVALUATION AND SELECTION
The selection will be made within the 28th of February 2013 by a Committee composed of the Pro-Rector to Internationalization , two members designated by the Dean of the University and an officer who will be the secretary.
The Committee will rank the candidates considering the academic qualifications and the academic curriculum. Selection criteria will be based mainly on merits.The decision of the Committee is unquestionable.
ART.3 –TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The students selected for the scholarship have to confirm the acceptance of the scolarship and the concerning conditions within 10 days from the delivery date of the written communication of the acceptance of the application.If the candidates will not proceed to the confirmation, they will lose their right to the scholarship and the candidate ranked in a lower position will be contacted.
The winners have to subscribe a declaration of acceptance of the scholarship specifying the exact period of duration, and details for the payment of the scholarship must be provided.
Once the acceptance is received, the University of Cagliari will proceed to the distribution of the scholarship only after the students’ arrival ; hence, the scholarship holder, while waiting to collect the first rate of the scholarship, will have to be capable to support himself/herself from an economic point of view for his/her stay in Cagliari.
The University of Cagliari will activate an accident and a public-liability insurance, but the scholarship holder will have to take a health insurance before the departure.
The holders will need as well a visa for Italy , issued by the Italian diplomatic Representative in their native country, valid for the whole duration of the scholarship.
ART.4 – COSTS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP AND METHODS OF DISTRIBUTION
For a stay between 3 and 5 months, each scholarship holder will receive 1000€ (gross) per month for boarding, in addition to the refund of travel costs (economy class) which will be refunded up to a maximum of 1000€.
The distribution of the scholarship will be divided into two rates: the 80% of it before the departure, with the SMILE NOW contract signed both by the holder and the University of Cagliari, and the remaining 20% at the end of the stay. The second rate depends on presentation of the report of work done, which must be signed and approved by the work coordinator of this University.
Therefore, the budget pertaining the assignment of the grant SMILE NOW will be a gross amount of
24.000 €

Personal data sent by the candidates through the application for the project SMILE NOW will be treated, in compliance withart. 13, 196/03, with the purpose of management of selection process and for the possible procedure of assignment of the scholarship.
