Session 1: forecasting in SOP

Intro: slide 1:

  1. Introduction: My name is Atiq Siddiqui blahblahblah… bear
  2. and I will be the instructor for the lab session of this course
  3. before we start … I would like to ask you about your acquaintance of SAP…
  4. like how many put themselves as regular users
  5. or occasional users and
  6. put themselves in a don’t know group…

Even if you are a complete stranger to SAP it is ok … infact you will find more value form these lab session as you’ll get some exposure of the system.

Slide 2:

  1. as you already know, the objective of these sessions is to put into practice the concepts learnt and discussed in the earlier sessions…
  2. as ARAMCO uses SAP so we will try not only to apply forecasting concepts but also how to use them in SAP
  3. Even if you are not suppose to be using in sap exposure given in this lab will be a good experience in case you would like to perform forecasting in other software as well…

Slide 3:

  1. windows & SAP login info login info

Slide 4 & 5:

  1. The lab session are divided into 2 main parts… based on how you can do forecasting in SAP…
  2. The difference is of course essentially not of concepts rather it will be the methodology and screens etc. based on the requirement of the objective to be fulfilled..
  3. So the first part as you can see is know as ‘forecasting in SOP’ where SOP stands for ………
  4. objectives readout in slide 5

Slide 6, 7 & 8:

  1. before we start forecasting I would like to introduce you to SOP which is like the first application for which you will be doing forecasting for…
  2. As you have already guessed SOP itself is not forecasting – rather forecasting is part of SOP…
  3. so let us have a quick look as SOP …
  4. SOP is defined as …. Readout
  5. slide 7: SOP itself consists of standard SOP, flexible planning & there is a third one as well know as level-by-level planning which not mentioned here….
  6. readout line 1…
  7. logically similar ‘materials’ are grouped in product groups … we’ll see the example in a min…
  8. line 2 & 3
  9. goto slide 8 and show example …
  10. Slide 9: Take to SAP ask them to login and show where you can find standard SOP…

Slide 10, 11 & 12:

  1. readout & explain flexible forecasting … readout
  2. goto slide 11and show example …
  3. Slide 12: Take to SAP ask them to login and show where you can find standard SOP…

Slide 13, 14 & 15:

  1. readout example used in our sessions…

Slide 16 - 17:

  1. Now go to SOP and try to open the prod. Group or material in it …

Slide 18 - 19:

  1. This slide has content you are already familiar with, i.e., learnt during last session of this course … historical data
  2. 18-19 (switch) read out and discuss model briefly

Slide 20 - 24:

  1. Now as you know that in each model you have to deal with various parameters…
  2. In SAP …. read out point 2 & 3
  3. slide 21: readout only …. Will explain parameters in a min….
  4. readout remaining slides and explain paramters

Slide 25- 29:

  1. Before explaining the manual or automatic selection let us look at SAP and see what have we achieved so far …
  2. Explain … on your own buddy 
  3. After slide 32: Now even if you are not very sure or feel not very fluent specially about the step that I have shown or jumped without explanation to you in SAP … do not worry as the objective, at this moment is to give you an overall idea and try to relate it what you have learnt in the theoretical part of it & practice will come later ….

Slide 30-32:

  1. readout slides and explain

Slide 33- 36:

  1. Explain … on your own buddy 
  2. Use reference.doc to show formulae

Slide 37-39:

  1. Jump back to slide 38 …

Slide 40-46:

  1. 40 - 41 readout
  2. ************* skip slide 42 repeated as in 41 *****************
