RESPONSIBLE TO Operations Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR Caretakers, FOH and Bar Catering Assistants, Door Supervisors.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
1. To duty manage various events within Chesterfield Venues, to ensure that all staff and events operate safely and comply with current legislation and to ensure that the service is of the highest standard.
2. The postholder will at all times carry out the below mentioned duties and responsibilities in accordance with Borough Council’s policies/procedures.
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To act as Front of House/Bar Supervisor and, as such, be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient promotion and operation (via utilization of the facilities computerised ticketing and halls/letting system) of events, lettings and hirings; the handling of all cash and receipts; health, safety and general well being of all staff and patrons within the building and to deal in the first instance with customer complaints and enquiries.
2. To duty manage various events within Chesterfield Venues, to ensure that all staff and events operate safely and comply with current legislation and to ensure that the service is of the highest standard.
3. Assist as required in the provision of first aid.
4. Assist in the setting up and dismantling of equipment.
5. Responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient promotion and operation of events, lettings and hirings, including the operation of the bar.
6. Responsible for all Health and Safety issues required to ensure that the events and the building operate in a safe manner.
7. Responsibility for the safety of staff and patrons.
8. Cash handling, receiving and recording all monies received on behalf of Chesterfield Borough Council.
9. To ensure compliance with Premises Licence relating to the premises, and all other licensing requirements.
10. To be aware of forthcoming events and promotions in order to be able to answer patrons queries.
11. To ensure that rooms are turned around and set up for events on the following day.
12. To carry out any duties as directed to ensure safe and efficient operation of the premises.
13. BAR/CATERING RESPONSIBILITIES:
14. To advise the Operations Manager on any aspect of the bar/catering function that may require alteration/variation to maximize its fullest potential.
15. To deputise for the Operations Manager in his/her absence as requested.
16. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
17. To be fully conversant with the Council’s, Service’s and Section’s Health and Safety Policy and be fully aware of the personal responsibilities thereto attached.
18. To ensure that all employees comply with the Health and Safety Policy and that codes of safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
19. To be aware of and implement the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
20. To undertake any other duties as required which are appropriate to the work of Chesterfield Venues, and commensurate with the grade and level of post.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
To work flexible hours to suit the operation of the organisation, to include evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays, sickness and holiday cover.
To work as requested from/at any premise within the organisation/service.

EXPERIENCE
Essential
Previous supervisory experience of persons working in a team situation
Previous experience in dealing/helping with the general public/customers
Previous experience in working within a community/entertainment environment

Previous experience of operating a computerized ticketing system
Experience of the operation, repairs and maintenance of plant, machinery and equipment
Experience of bar cellar work
Experience working in a profitable commercial enterprise
