G4S ESF Family Support Programme
This project is focused on helping people who are unemployed or have become inactive in the labour market. In particular, it focuses on people who are most likely to face disadvantage or discrimination.
Each individual will be allocated their personal Key Worker, who will work with them to assess their specific needs and mutually agree on an Action Plan that will be used to help the individual either gain employment, or get closer to employment opportunities. / A family (one or two parents) or childless couple who are at present on any of the benefits below and are not on the Work Programme could qualify to receive support from this programme.

Work Clubs
Work Clubs have been set up in each of the UCAN Centres in Bolton to help people who are nearly work-ready make the final steps towards the job market.
This may be finalising or tweaking a CV, filling in an application form or job searching online with some basic advice and guidance from the UCAN staff. / Anyone can access a work club provided they can read/write, speak English and use a computer, even if only the basics / Click here to find out the locations and times of the Work Clubs.
Plum Education and Training Grants /
The maximum grant is £400
Examples of applications include help with the payment of course fees for college courses, help towards childcare costs while a parent attends college, and the purchase of books or specific tools for vocational courses.
The Plum Panel will consider all applications received because we want to see our customers prosper and develop their skills for the future. / Available to Plum Plus Members, or their children if aged between the ages of 16 – 18.
The fund is flexible and is not just for young people but is available to all qualifying Plum Plus Members.

Bolton Community Association is a non-profit organisation, the aim of which is to provide a one stop service to the local community in an intercultural environment, with a view to enhancing community cohesion and improving social harmony.

Libraries Service
Alongside the services you would normally expect at your local library, you can also:
  • Access the Internet for free for job search, e-mail and CV preparation etc.
  • Get help from a computer mentor where available
  • Job search in newspapers
  • Use the printing, scanning and faxing facilities
  • Access training e.g. IT courses, ESOL course and Active Ageing courses at different times and places during the year

The mission of Bolton Wise is to relieve poverty and to provide relief from the problems of poverty associated with unemployment and economic inactivity of those living in Greater Manchester and Lancashire, and to provide services primarily to meet the needs of such persons within their own communities.

Community Care Options
Funded by the Big Lottery we offer training in Administration /IT, Engineering Repair and Woodwork. All courses are accredited and offer the opportunity to achieve AQA units.
Our courses help gain confidence, motivation and therapeutic work experience all in a supported and protected environment to give adults the required daily social skills to progress to the next level which could be into employment. / Training is free for unemployed adults aged 18+ who have a physical disability, health related issue or learning disability and/or people who have recently moved from Incapacity Benefit on to ESA (Employment & Support Allowance).
Travel expenses are provided and trainees are supported by our dedicated team of staff.
We offer a roll on/roll off programme – referrals at any time.

Jobcentre Plus is a government agency, part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It is responsible for assisting people of working age find jobs, for administering some benefits for people of working age and for the administration of national insurance numbers. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS)
GMFRSdeliver a 12 week Team programme for 16 - 25 year olds in partnership with the Prince's Trust. Each Team enrolls young people 3 times a year in 7 locations including Bolton.
The programme consists of careers advice, work placements, a week of team building activities and a series of community based projects.
