Internal: Staff at all levels within the Housing and Regeneration Directorate and the Council as a whole.

External: General Public, Public Utilities and Police

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Carry out all installations, repairs and maintenance work required by the Authority and all other joiner functions.

Service Specific Activities – BASIC RATE
1. Safeguarding:- To demonstrate commitment and support for safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.
2. To carry out inspections/repairs ensuring that the work is completed to a defined quality and to relevant technical standards.
3. To participate in out of hours standby in accordance with the specified procedure.
4. To be proactive in supporting supervisors/inspectors in achieving Council and Team objectives.
5. To ensure that appropriate records are accurately and effectively completed.
6. To complete all necessary paperwork as required by the organisation accurately and on time.
7. To liaise as necessary with other sections and trades to ensure the implementation and completion of repairs and maintenance works.
8. To work with supervisors to determine the status of any and all works.
9. To make effective use of the Councils materials and ensure that any unused materials are returned to the stores in accordance with Council policy and procedure.
10. To attend and actively participate in such meetings as may be required.
11. To actively take part in all training and development activities.
12. To develop technical skill to enable the use of mobile handheld devices.
13. To provide excellent customer service by dealing with all customers appropriately and effectively.
14. To be responsible for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and anyone who may be affected by your work. In particular, complying with safe systems of work in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Council and current legislation.
15. To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required within the general scope of the post.
ASSOCIATED TASK – AS ABOVE TOGETHER WITH
16. Clean out gutters, valley gutters and RWP
17. Renew any single fitting to gutter/RWP
18. Reseal/repair leak on waste fitting soil pipe
19. Hack off ceramic tiles and renew not exceeding 1m2
20. Patch plastering up to 1m2 for sand/cement
21. Cut out and replaster cracks up to 3m
22. Remove and replace thermoplastic tiles up to 1m2
23. Painting
24. Any other works required as a result of damage from the core type of work eg removal of a kitchen wall cupboard resulting in the need to replaster wall area or stripping wallpaper resulting in damage to plaster.
MULTI TASK – AS ABOVE TOGETHER WITH
25. Replace bath – including fixing wall tiles, end and side panels and associated small plastering areas
26. Replace kitchen sink unit – build unit, fix unit plus any associated small plastering areas. Including associated plumbing works.
27. Aids and Adaptations – Install walk-in showers including tiling, plumbing work and floor work.
28. Over bath showers – including tiling and plumbing works.
