SERVICE DESCRIPTION: Optus Roaming Services

This Service Description forms part of Optus’ Standard Form of Agreement pursuant to the Telecommunications Legislation.

This Service Description for Roaming comprises the following Parts:

  • Part 1: Service Family Terms (applicable to all Optus Roaming Services); and
  • Part 2: Service Option Terms.

The Service Option Terms are separate terms applicable to each of the following Service Options and are to be read in conjunction with both the General Terms and the Service Family Terms:

  • Roaming for Optus Business Customers(the relevant terms for this service option are included in the Service Family Terms).
  • Bridge Alliance Monthly RoamingPlans.
  • VoiceRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans.
  • DataRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans.

SERVICE FAMILY TERMS: Optus Roaming Services

If there is any inconsistency between the terms of the documents that form the Agreement, they will be interpreted in the following order of precedence: the Standard Pricing Table, the Service Option Terms of the Service Description, the Service Family Terms of the Service Description, the General Terms and the Application, except to the extent of any inconsistency in pricing (in which case the Application overrides the Standard Pricing Table).

1.SERVICE FAMILY

1.1Service Description

The Optus Roaming Services allow your End Users to use their mobile devices when travelling overseasby connecting to Optus’ partner networks.

1.2Optus Group Company

The Optus Roaming Services aresupplied by the following Optus Group Company:

  • Optus Mobiles Pty Ltd (ABN 65 054 365 696) if the Agreement was executed or renewed by the parties on or before 30 June 2015; and
  • Optus Networks Pty Limited (ABN 92 008 570 330) if the Agreement was executed or renewed by the parties after 30 June 2015.
  • Separate supply of mobile devices and digital services
    The supply of mobile devices is not covered by this Service Description and you will need to purchase these separately from. Similarly, sending or receiving telephone calls, SMS or data within Australia is not covered and, to use these services, you will need to enter into a separate Agreement with us for mobile digital plans.

Optus wishes to advise that for operational reasons, Optus will no longer provide data roaming services from 20th November 2017 to the Maldives and New Caledonia. Voice and SMS will not be affected in these locations.

2.SERVICE OPTIONS

  • Roaming for Optus Business Customers–is the base roaming service planfor mobile digital usage outside of Australia. There is no specific included value in the standard roaming plan. Usage charges for base roaming services are set out in the relevant Standard Pricing Table; and
  • Bridge Alliance Monthly Roaming Plans–are monthly plans with included value to use when roaming on select networks outside of Australia;
  • VoiceRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans–are monthly plans with included value for making and receiving calls when roaming in select countriesoverseas; and
  • DataRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans–are monthly plans with included data usage allowances for use when roaming in select countries overseas.

3.COMMENCENCINGSERVICES

3.1You must be an eligible existing customer with compatible devices and plansto use the Services.

3.2You must select the relevant service option on your initial Application or complete a separate Application to activate the relevant service option before roaming overseas, to be eligible for the relevant roaming charges. .

4.COMPATIBILITY AND COVERAGE

4.1It is your responsibility to check that your mobile devices are compatible with each overseas network you wish to roam on. Whether a device is compatible depends on a number of factors including whether the device supports the frequencies used bythat network.

4.2Each overseas network may not support all of the features (e.g. messaging and video calling) that are supported within Australia. It is your responsibility to check that the features you wish to use overseas are supported by each of the networks you wish to roam on.

4.3The Services are not available in all countries or in all areas of countries. It is your responsibility to check that the areas you wish to use in are covered. Information about where Services are available can be accessed from time to time at our website

5.THIRD PARTY NETWORKS

5.1When your mobile devices roam on networks outside of Australiayouwill be billed by us for usage,but the Services will be supplied by the third partynetworks that your devices roams on. Each third party network’s terms and conditions apply to you in relation to use of that network. We will provideyou with these terms and conditions if you request a copy.

5.2Roaming relies on agreements between us and third party networks outside of Australia. We may need to withdraw or change the Services from time to time without notifying you first.

6.CALCULATINGCHARGES

6.1Charges apply for both sending and receiving telephone calls and the charge will vary by call origin, destination and type.

6.2Charges apply for sending SMS messages and similarly vary by origin, destination and type.

6.3Charges apply for data use (including sending and receiving MMS when roaming) and vary depending on where the data is used. Data use includes uploads and downloads and is calculated in 10 kilobyte increments.

6.4It is your responsibility to prevent unintended data use by yourEnd Users. We recommend that you switch off any automatic data use features oneach mobile device before it is taken outside of Australia.

6.5Unless explicitly stated otherwise, usage when Roamingis not covered by any included value you may have under other plans (e.g. plans with included value for calls, SMS or data use within Australia).

6.6We will bill you in arrears, and you will need to pay, for any roaming usage. It make take several months forroaming usagecharges to appear on your bill because we must first receive and process usage information from third party networks overseas.

7.DEFINITIONS

Terms not defined in these Service Family Terms are as defined in the General Terms, unless inconsistent with the context.

End User means any person or entity that uses or desires to use the Service, whether or not you allow them to.

Monthly Access Feemeans the monthly reoccurring charge to be paid for each plan, service or feature.

Normal Rates means the roaming rates you set out in your Application or, if no roaming rates are set out there or on expiry of any Committed Term, then the standard roaming rates set out in the Standard Pricing Table for the relevant Roaming Service Option.

Service Descriptionmeans the Service Family Terms and Service Option Terms applicable to the Roamingservice.

Service Family Terms mean the terms applicable to all Service Optionsset out in Part 1 of this Service Description.

Service Options means the service options detailed at the beginning of this Service Description.

Service Option Terms mean the terms applicable to each Service Option set out in Part 2 of this Service Description.

SERVICE OPTION TERMS

Service Option: Bridge Alliance Monthly Roaming Plans

This Service Option forms part of the Optus Roaming Services.

The Service Description for the Optus Roaming Services comprises the following Parts:

  • Part 1: Service Family Terms (applicable to all Optus Roaming Services); and
  • Part 2: The Service Option Terms.

The Service Option Terms are separate terms applicable to each of the Service Options and are to be read in conjunction with both the General Terms and the Service Family Terms:

1.DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICE OPTION

1.1Theseare monthly plans with included value to use when roaming on select networks outside of Australia.

2.BRIDGE ALLIANCE NETWORK

2.1We have an alliance of preferred networks for our customers to roam on outside of Australia, the “Bridge Alliance Network”.

2.2The Bridge Alliance Monthly Roaming Plan is available only on the Bridge Alliance Networks listed at

2.3 Please check the list of member networks before travelling overseas as the member networks will change from time to time.

3.INCLUDED BRIDGE ROAMING VALUE

3.1The Service includes value to use each month when roaming onBridge Alliance Networkssuch as for telephone calls, SMS or data (Included Bridge Roaming Value).

3.2Included Bridge Roaming Value can only be used when connected to Bridge Alliance Networks. Usage through other networks will be charged at your Normal Rates.

3.3Where Included Bridge Roaming Value is expressed as a dollar ($) value, the included amount is based on what you would have otherwise been charged at your Normal Rates.

3.4Any unused portion of the Included Bridge Roaming Value expires at the end of each month and does not roll over to the next month.

3.5We will bill you in arrears, and you will need to pay, for any usage beyond or falling outside the Included Bridge Roaming Value at your Normal Rates.

3.6Included Bridge Roaming Value is distinct from any included value you may have under other plans. Further, Included Bridge Roaming Value ”buckets” allocated to a particular type of usage (e.g. making and receiving calls) cannot be used for any other types of usage (e.g. sending SMS, and vice versa).

4.MONTHLY ACCESS FEE

4.1Each month we will bill you upfront, and you will need to pay, the Monthly Access Fees for all connections to the Service regardless of the actual usage charges incurred.

4.2Your Monthly Access Feeand included value for the Service may be pro-rated so that you can be billed on your normal billing cycle.

4.3TheService will continue under a month to month agreement until cancelled.

5.DEFINITIONS

Terms not defined in these Service Option Terms are as defined in the Service Family Terms or the General Terms (in that order) unless inconsistent with the context.

Bridge Alliance Network has the meaning given in clause 2 of these Service Option Terms.

Included Bridge Roaming Value has the meaning given in clause 3of these Service Option Terms.

SERVICE OPTION TERMS

Service Option: VoiceRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans

This Service Option forms part of the Optus Roaming Services.

The Service Description for the Optus Roaming Services comprises the following Parts:

  • Part 1: Service Family Terms (applicable to all Optus Roaming Services); and
  • Part 2: The Service Option Terms.

The Service Option Terms are separate terms applicable to each of the Service Options and are to be read in conjunction with both the General Terms and the Service Family Terms:

1.DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICE OPTION

1.1The VoiceRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans are monthly plans with included value for making and receiving calls only when roaming in select countries overseas.The VoiceRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans do not apply to,or include value for,SMS or data usage when roaming overseas.

2.VOICEROAMNETWORKS

2.1The networks to roam on with this Service may change from time to time but currently comprises networks based in the following countries (VoiceRoam Networks):

3.INCLUDED VOICEROAM VALUE

3.1The Service includes value to make and receive calls when roaming on VoiceRoam Networks (Included VoiceRoam Value). Included VoiceRoam Value cannot be used for other non-voice types of usage such as data orSMS.

3.2Included VoiceRoam Value can only be used when connected to a VoiceRoam Network. Usage through other networks or SMS or data usage when roaming overseaswill be charged at theNormal Rates.

3.3Where Included VoiceRoam Value is expressed as a dollar ($) value, the included amount is based on what you would have otherwise been charged at your Normal Rates

The Service Option Terms are separate terms applicable to each of the Service Options and are to be read in conjunction with both the General Terms and the Service Family Terms:

1.1The DataRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans are monthly plans with included data usage allowances for use when roaming in select countries overseas. The DataRoam Monthly Value Pack Plans do not apply to non-data types of usage such as making or receiving phone calls or sending SMS.

3.1The Service includes value for data usage when roaming on, depending on the plan you select, either the BaseDataRoam Networks or Extended DataRoam Networks (Included DataRoam Value).

3.2Included DataRoam Value can only be used when connected to, depending on the plan you select,either a Base DataRoam Network or an Extended DataRoam Networks. Usage through other networksor non-data types of usage such as making or receiving phone calls or sending SMS when roaming overseas, will be charged at the Normal Rates.

3.3Any unused portion of the Included DataRoam Value expires at the end of each month and does not roll over to the next month.

3.4We will bill you in arrears, and you will need to pay, for any usage beyond or falling outside the Included DataRoam Value at your Normal Rates.

3.5Included DataRoam Value is distinct from any included value you may have under other plans.
