“John the Baptist Gives His Testimony”
John 1:19-34
- John confirms his identity (vs. 19-28).
- John testified about who he was (19-23).
John told them who he was not
John told them that he was “a voice crying in the wilderness”
- John testified about his message (24-28).
(Deuteronomy 18:15, 18; Jeremiah 1:8; Malachi 4:5-6; John 10:40-42; Titus 1:15-16)
- John confirms Jesus’ identity (vs. 29-34).
- John pointed Jesus out among men (29a)
- John testified five facts about Jesus:
- Jesus is “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (29b).
- Jesus existed before birth (30).
- Jesus is going to be revealed to Israel (31).
- Jesus was revealed to John by God (32-33).
- Jesus is the Son of God (34).

Titus 1:15-16
15To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
16They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.
