“John the Baptist Gives His Testimony”

John 1:19-34

  1. John confirms his identity (vs. 19-28).
  1. John testified about who he was (19-23).

John told them who he was not

John told them that he was “a voice crying in the wilderness”

  1. John testified about his message (24-28).

  1. John confirms Jesus’ identity (vs. 29-34).
  1. John pointed Jesus out among men (29a)
  1. John testified five facts about Jesus:
  1. Jesus is “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (29b).
  1. Jesus existed before birth (30).
  1. Jesus is going to be revealed to Israel (31).
  1. Jesus was revealed to John by God (32-33).
  1. Jesus is the Son of God (34).

15“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him.

John 10:40-42

Titus 1:15-16

15To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

16They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

Jeremiah 1:8

“The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’ And those who handle the law did not know Me; The rulers also transgressed against Me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal and walked after things that did not profit.

Jeremiah 29:12-13

12Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
