Serious Training for the Cycling Road Warrior

Train or Cross Train Indoors on the Bicycle Scientifically!

Make the most of this cycling offseason! Stay motivated and make some serious gains in both strength and stamina with FortCycle’s specialFTP Training Program. FortCycle is running two 7 week sessions geared specifically toward increasing your cycling FTP (Functional Threshold Power), your theoretical maximum average power over a 1-hour ride. The sessions will start with establishing a baseline FTP, and use this to determine your power work zones. Each ride will then be set up with specific intervals at these known zones which will push the body at the optimal levels to achieve gains in power and endurance on the bicycle.

You don't need to randomly set up the bike trainer at home in your basement or strap it onto your bike rack and look for a place to set up. FortCycle has state of the art Schwinn indoor cycles with USB equipped power meters to save and track your workouts in compatible training apps such as TrainingPeaks. There will be music cranking and a room full of fellow cyclists to keep the energy up and help you push through the toughest parts of the workout! You will get all the motivation of a great mid-summer group ride!

About FortCycle’s state-of-the-art equipment:

Bike - Schwinn A.C. Performance Plus

"A.C" stands for "Authentic Cycling" and refers to Schwinn's focus on creating an experience that mimics as closely as possible the feel of riding a bicycle outdoors on real roads. The key to this authentic feel is in both the magnetic resistance and drive train design. First, magnetic resistance brings magnets closer to the metal fly wheel, while never touching it, for a continuous and smooth increase or decrease in resistance. Magnetic resistance is not unique for indoor cycles, but Schwinn has refined their design with six magnets which enables the ability to micro-adjust the bike to fit the rider. The real difference in the FortCycle bikes is Schwinn's Carbon Blue drive train - think of it like buying the limited edition of a car! This replaces the traditional chain drive on bikes, and the difference is amazing. The Carbon Blue belt is primarily polyurethane but includes a core of carbon fiber tensile cords. Softer nylon teeth grab the gears to create a non-slip, smooth and quiet indoor cycling experience with a real outdoor feel.

Power Meter - MPower Echelon2 Power Console

FortCycle has also added the MPower Echelon2 Console so each rider can individually measure and track their performance for each ride - or from ride to ride. The power console tracks: RPMs, Watts, Kcal, Heart Rate (w/ compatible strap), total time, distance and power and stage time, distance and power. Track your workouts with Ant+ devices or capture your ride on our USB port and download to spreadsheet programs or web-based training programs.
