Treasurer's Report

One expense so far, teacher appreciation luncheon. Haven’t received donation checks from McDonalds or Kona Ice truck from 15-16 school year.

Ellen Zimmerman motioned to approve treasurer’s report. Nikki Jacobs seconded. All approved.

Principal's Report

Bobbie Fiori shared Optimus Club Avenue of Flags information. Lindsay Green will get more information and share decision at next meeting.

Molly Bauer shared playground update information. No new equipment to be purchased at this time. Teachers really wanted to have an Ellison machine. There is one in the building now, but not many die cuts. Teachers polled on what they’d like. Teachers need new cutting pads and new storage rack. $870 is the total for the teacher wish list. Lindsay Green motioned to approve the purchase of the requested die cuts, pad and rack. Ellen Zimmerman seconded. All in favor.

Staff luncheon

Teachers very thankful for lunch provided by PTO. Thank you to Nikki Jacobs for coordinating the lunch.

Volunteer Positions: -

Fundraising:

• Restaurant Fundraiser Chair: Chelsea reports that she has been in touch with Primanti Brothers to set a date for October. (3rd week)

• Spirit Wear Chair: Britton Siebenthaler shared T-shirts for adults and children will be available soon, with the possibility sweatshirts. Hopes to have them before winter break. Using same company as last year. Orders due November 1. Getting forms created now. Flyers and emails to be sent late October.

• Book Fair Chair: Bobbie Fiori and Dionne Meyer will co-chair book fair.

Will have the book fair again during the spring family fun night. If we want to do one in the fall, would have to be soon or online order only for fall. Or we could do Barnes and noble book fair night? Would have been good to have fall sale at the fall open house- think about the planning for this for 17-18 school year.

- Teacher Support:

• Staff Appreciation Week Chair: Bethany reports that teacher appreciation week is May 1 - 5. She is looking at the budget for purchasing a big item for each teacher.

• Staff Special Events Chair: Nikki Jacobs reports she is planning on Halloween/ Thanksgiving Treats depending on budget. Halloween celebration will be the Thursday before Halloween. Staff treats will be the Friday before Halloween.

• Staff Liaison:

Events/Activities for Students: -

Birthday Book Club Chair: Peyton Starr reports that he has a form to send home with students for this in the near future and is going to meet with the book fair chair to choose books.

Explanation of birthday book club: Families can purchase a book for $10. Child’s name, photo and dedication plate are placed in the book. Teacher keeps the book for first 2 weeks, and then it goes to the school library. Summer birthdays can be done anytime. Does the money from the book club go to the scholastic fund? Not sure on the answer yet. The money will go into the general PTO fund and will be determined on how to spend it. Will be up to the teachers on how to present birthday book club books to the class.

Family Fun Night Chair: Jill Williams is the new chair. Last year, it was the last Thursday of April. Thinking similar timeline. Jill will need a co-chair and committee members. It was a big event. We’ll need raffle basket items. Tazzy Seiple volunteered to co-chair. Molly Bauer, Nikki Jacobs, Matt Hackney, Meghan Morgan and Lindsay Green offer to be on committee. Suggestions on improving prizes awarded after kids’ games and the temperature in gym.

Philanthropy Chair: Mitten tree. Molly took care of the mitten tree. Also did a blanket donation drive to St. Vincent DePaul. Will also share info with families about donating to the clothing closet in Beavercreek HS. Also mentioned sending cards to the Heartland Assisted Living. Sarah Webb volunteered to lead philanthropy.

Other Items: -

Volunteer Coordinator: Jill Williams is going to use the pink "We Need You!" volunteer sheets to create a spreadsheet of volunteers for this school year. She will distribute the list of helpers via e-mail to you before your event. If you need help with something, please send her an email to get a list of people who are willing to help in some way. Feedback- make sure new families that join the school after the traditional start get information about PTO and getting involved, too.

1 September 21, 2016 - Appendix A Approval - Purchases for the school.

Nikki Jacobs motioned to approve the appendix. Seconded by Stephanie Sainz. All in favor

Other ideas for the PTO for this school year?

For next school year- if the PTO could help the teachers stuffing back to school folders, nametags, lines on the floor, etc. Also, ordering food for teachers from places that are doing fundraising that day and delivering to school between sessions would be greatly appreciated!

Dates to Remember: Restaurant Fundraiser at Pies and Pints and Kilwins at the Greene on Tuesday, September 27th!

Next PTO meeting is Wednesday, November 2nd at 6:00pm in the motor room!
