Sensor technology: Initiator cable flexing 60 million times
igus, the Cologne-based specialist for dynamic cables, has now been supplying sensor/actuator cables of the series CF9 for around 20 years. For more than two years, these have also been available with moulded M8 and M12 plugs with IP67 protective rating. The "Chainflex" CF9.INI series is now being supplemented by the – new – CF98.INI series for particularly tight bend radii of only 4xd and smaller. Extensive tests have shown that this extreme load does not lead to failure even after 60 million individual strokes. This is possible thanks to the use of new cable materials.
Miniaturisation
Pick & place machine applications, PCB production – humid surroundings and cramped spaces combined with ever increasing cycle figures require special conductor and jacket materials. With advanced extrusion methods for both plugs and materials, and anti-kink protection, IP67 is now guaranteed with "Chainflex" CF98.INI even under high loads.

small cross-sections, tight radii
The new igus series with moulded plug has already been subjected to tests in the company's own laboratory achieving more than 60 million movements in the energy chain without any damage to the cables. The cable, specially developed to give very small cross-sections with tight bend radii - has a service life many times greater than that of normal copper cables as well as cables with a braided shield or rope-type design. The conductor of the igus-CF98 is alloyed in such a way that fatigue fractures such as those that occur frequently with pure copper either occur later or not at all. "Chainflex" CF98.INI is made of highly abrasion-resistant, gusset-filled extruded TPE outer jacket, is oil-resistant, resistant to UV radiation and is free of both PVC and halogen. The CF98 series is available ex-stock as an individual cable as well as in the form of a connection cable M8 and M12 and a supply cable M8 with free cable end. In addition, a comprehensive range of moulded plugs is available (straight or angled plugs).
