CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS 2015-2016

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  1. Interact with others speakers andmake oral and written presentations in Spanish,
  2. Understand oral and written messages in Spanish,
  3. Learn about the complexity and richness of the Spanish culture.

COURSE MATERIAL

  1. Textbook & Workbook Realidades (provided),
  2. One-inch three-ring binder just for Spanish.

CLASSROOM RULES:

  1. Respect yourself, the teacher and the other students in the class,
  2. AllAmherstCountyHigh School rules as they appear in the student’s agenda will be enforced,
  3. The teacher dismisses the class,
  4. All work areas must be clean and orderly before students are dismissed,
  5. Be in your seat at the beginning of class with any materials necessary for your days work,
  6. No student is to leave the room, unless called by the office or the nurse.

DISCIPLINE: Violation of the rules will invoke a procedure of progressive discipline:

1. First Step - Verbal warning

2. Second Step - Hold during/after class for conference with teacher

3. Third Step - Parent contact

4. Fourth Step - Referral to the assistant principal for discipline

5. Fifth Step - Immediate exclusion from class and referred to the office

HOMEWORK/PROJECTS

  1. It is the student’s duty to turn it in at the beginning of the period of the assigned day.
  2. Late or incomplete work will be graded 0.
  3. Extracurricular activities, jobs, and others will not interfere with the student’s class work. It is

the student's responsibility to work out time conflicts.

MAKEUP WORK /QUIZZES

  1. It is the Student’sresponsibility to schedule a time for any make-up test or quiz.Also, it is the teacher’s responsibility to provide them once they are requested in a timely fashion,
  2. All make up work can be found inside a folder on the school website
  3. All make up work or quizzes are due within 3 days after returning to school; otherwise it will be graded 0 (no exceptions).

HONOR CODE

1. Copying a classmate’s homework or using on-line translators is considered cheating,
2. Cheating will result in a “zero” on the assignment. The student’s parents or guardians and

school administrators will be notified of the incident.

A+: 98-100

A: 95-97

A-: 92-04

B+: 89-91

B: 86-88

B-: 83-85

C+: 80-82

C: 77-79

C-: 74-76

D+: 71-73

D: 68-70

D-: 65-67

F: 0-66

9-WEEK GRADES

The final grade will be taken averaging these items:

  1. Quizzes (one at least every week):20%
  2. Tests (every unit, every four weeks): 30%
  3. Class Participation10%
  4. Nine-week assessment (end of the nine weeks):20%
  5. Quizzes:10%
  6. Speaking:10%
