CUSA MINUTES
February 20, 2017
1) CALL TO ORDER:
The regular weekly meeting of the CUSA Senate was held on Monday, February 20, 2017 in the Student Center Multipurpose Rooms, the President being in the chair and the Secretary being present.
2) ATTENDANCE:
Senators Goodwin, Hill and Ukleya were absent.
3) READING, CORRECTION, AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Approve by unanimous consent.

7) OFFICER REPORTS
President
President Riley - Met with Dave Delisle and President Collins this week about Campus Safety in regards to what an active shooter looks like on campus. Dave can only pay for 16 classrooms this summer and more needs to be done. Training also needs to be better for students on campus. There are also no locks in the Science Center and Tony is behind it now that he knows that this is an issue. Elections are coming up soon so if you have any questions for Eboard on what people do feel free to reach out. He will not be at the next meeting.
Vice President
VP Fidler - Organizational Conduct Board policy is going to be done very soon. The Attendance Policy counts for committee meetings as well.
Public Relations Director
PRD Abplanalp – There will be a fact sheet for the Conduct Board coming out soon. There is likely to be the CUSA dinner at the end of the year as it is a good PR event.
Treasurer
Treasurer Pike – Finance is going well with the new structure. The meeting is canceled this week. The last information session is on February 28th and clubs need to be there or they will not be able to get to the budget information.
Secretary
Secretary Reger – Send in nominations for Senator of the Month. Make sure you send her your polo size.
Advisor
Advisor Deso – No report.
8) COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Academic & Policy
Co-Vice Presidents of Academic and Policy Kocsis and Sexton - Going to have discussions later this meeting about elections. Looking into graduate students and other University students participating in CUSA organizations.
Student Life
Vice President of Student Life Duque - Trying to plan Music and Arts Festival on March 11th and may need to ask CUSA for more money. Next week Ian Hazen will be at their committee meeting so feel free to join on Monday at 6 in CUSA 123. Health Services is looking to hire a new Admin Assistant and in April they are planning to implement iPad for check in. They also want to implement a feedback system for right after you are seen and they will also be sending out their yearly survey soon.
GSA
GSA Chair Ferrari- No report.
9) OLD BUSINESS:
None
10) NEW BUSINESS:
Senator Zanni moved 02-20-17a, “approve the recommendation of the Finance Committee to grant $300 out of circumstantial contingency to Friends of India to purchase badminton equipment for a tournament and that equipment will become assets of the Badminton Club.” Seconded by Senator Friedman. Motion Passes.
Senator Carter moved 02-20-17b, “approve the recommendation of the Finance Committee to grant $500 out of circumstantial contingency to OSL to help put on their Women Empowerment event with the screening of Hidden Figures.” Seconded by Senator Bayly. Motion Passes.
Senator Zanni moved 02-20-17c, “approve the recommendation of the Finance Committee to grant $550 out of conference contingency to Silver Wings for NATCOM conference and to table any funding for Military Day until they meet with the Diversity Office for funding.” Seconded by Senator Marble. Motion Passes.
Senator Sexton moved to “approve the recommendation of the Academics and Policy Committee to approve a new Elections Bylaw.” Seconded by Senator LoMascolo.
-adding on to the bylaws
-it will be brought up next week to be voted on
Senator Kocsis moved to “open discussion on the upcoming election and dates for that election.” Seconded by Senator Friedman.
-currently they plan to have all elections on the same two days
-March 9th the platforms/picture/petitions would all be due
-elections would be 14th and 15th of March
-try to figure out logistics of KnightLife voting software
-voting for class is by cohort
-need to watch out for signatures
-for online signatures need to have to a way to ensure people are not faking those either
-potentially use a google form
-doing electronic signatures is a little less personal
-however we can promote CUSA even if it is on social media is a good thing
-try to get the elections packet out by the end of the week
