“Night Parking Passes for Bobcats”

WHEREAS: Texas State University- San Marcos requires all vehicles parking on campus to purchase and display a permit; and

WHEREAS: students may desire to park on campus only at night and/or on weekends; and

WHEREAS:some students participate in intramural and recreational activities only during nights and/or weekends; and

WHEREAS: some students, such as those who work full-time day jobs, only attend evening classes at 5:00pm and/or 6:30pm; and

WHEREAS:students may wish to park closer to campus buildings after dark for personal safety and security; and

WHEREAS:both the administration and Associated Student Government of Texas State University- San Marcos strive in ensuring student safety; and

WHEREAS:many parking spaces are available in the evening and during the weekend; and

WHEREAS:students who wish to park only at night and during the weekend should have a cost effective parking pass available to them; therefore

BE IT RESOLVED: In conjunction with the Campus Master Plan and

University preparation for the academic year of 2011-2012 the Associated Student Government recommend the University create a night/weekend parking pass; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:that ASG recommends that the night/weekend permit be valid in all zones; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:that the night/weekend permit be valid between the hours of 5:00 pm and 6:00am during the week and during all hours of the weekend; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:that the night/weekend permit cost no more than 50% of the current cost of the least expensive permit offered; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:that this legislation be forwarded to

ASG Advisor Kathy Weiser, Assistant Director of Parking Services Stephen Prentice, Texas State University Parking and Transportation Committee, Dean of Students Dr. Margarita Arellano, Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. JoanneSmith, President Denise Trauth upon passage.
