SELF-DECLARATION FOR CYCLE DAY

This self-declaration is entered into by the ______herein referred to as Community Partner, at Bangalore on the dates______to conduct Cycle Day event at ______neighbourhood/locality in Bangalore City.

1.The Bangalore Coalition for Open Streets (BCOS) has been formed with a vision to promote a sustainable, more bike-able and pedestrian-friendly Bangalore.The Coalition has been organizing the Bangalore Cycle Day campaign from October 2013 at various localities of Bangalore and is interested in extending the reach of the campaign by working in partnership with local communities.

2.The Community Partner is interested in organizing the Cycle Day event in Bangalore in accordance with the objectives of the BCOS which is mainly to build awareness about sustainable transport modes like walking, cycling etc. by engaging with communities, like-minded interest groups, city governments and planning authorities, and to establish safe and enjoyable bicycle and pedestrian transportation network in Bangalore City.The Community Partner will be responsible for all logistic arrangements connected with the organization of the event.If planning any special activities or campaigns at the venue, these should only be related to non-motorized transportation, environment, street safety, and street sharing or similar. The Community Partner agrees to obtain necessary permissions from the City Traffic Police and Law and Order Police for the routes/streets where the Cycle Day event will occur and also Local Municipal Authorities for use of roadsand putting the advertisement banners etc.

3.Community Partners will ensure that the conditions listed in theNo-Objection Certificate sought for permissions will not be violated.

4.The Community Partner will conduct a minimum of 3 Cycle Day Events in their neighborhood. The Community partners will cross check with authorities if the dates selected for the events are feasible and not coinciding with other important functions in the neighborhood. The final dates selected by Community Partner will not be altered arbitrarily unless required by Police and other Government Agencies.

5.Safety Issue: The Community Partnerwill ensure the safety of the participants by making available of emergency services like ambulance; ensuring smooth and hassle free ride for cyclists etc. and take steps to maintain order at the venue.

6.The Community Partnerwill be responsible for local outreach activities including publicity through local media

7.The Community Partner will be responsible for spreading awareness about sustainable non-motorized transport at the events. A short note provided to the Community Partner about the campaign will be read out to the participants during the event to highlight the purpose behind conducting Cycle Day.

8.The Community Partnermay permit other agencies to set up booths for display purposes only or organize events at the cycle day venue subject to the following guidelines :

a)Only the approved commercial partners are allowed to use mention of “official Cycle Day partner” phrase or Cycle Day logo on their promotional material.

b)No personality promotion of any sort will be allowed. No pictures or names of individuals are allowed on the banners or promotional material put up by commercial partners, sponsors or attending civil society groups.

c)No ambush messaging (printed t-shirts, handheld banners etc.) to push a personality, political parties, or religious groups is allowed.

d)The Community Partner will not support or promote any political, religious or personal agendas in any form or manner as part of the Cycle day event.

e)The Community Partner will not endorse or support products like alcohol, tobacco or motorized transport like car and motorcycle manufacturers.

f)The Community Partner will not approve or permit sponsors’ logos or banners that draw attention away from Cycle Day Logo and event identity.

g)The Community Partner will have to use the creative’s provided to them and comply with theCycle Day branding guidelines.

h)No products will be sold or any sort of financial transaction will take place or pamphlets will be distributed at the Cycle Day event.

i)Food/beverages will NOT be sold at the premises of the Cycle Day event, unless the Community Partner obtains written permission from the Municipal authority in the form of a No-Objection Certificate and submit the same to DULT before the event.

j)The Community Partner is responsible for all post event cleanup of the event location, and make sure the streets are free of event material such as posters, banners, plastic cups etc.

9.The Bangalore Coalition for Open Streets is absolved of all liabilities arising out of any untoward incident occurring at this event and does not take any responsibility for any negligence or violation of rules by the community partner.

10.The Community Partner is not allowed to change the dates and venue for Cycle day that is finalised during signing of the Self Declaration. In the event that the Local Community Partner is unable to conduct the Cycle day as scheduled due to unforeseeable circumstances such as bundh and other disruptions outside of our control, the event will be cancelled. The subsequent events should be held as per the permissions sought
