Description: How do you integrate the Internet into your early childhood classroom? Presenters will discuss sharing e-mail, e-mail projects and how to implement a nation-wide project.

Project: Selena Is On The Move

Our kindergarten classes sent Selena the armadillo, our project mascot, to participating classes across America. When Selena visited a class, she came with the book "The Armadillo From Amarillo", her project folder and a scrapbook about Fort Worth, Texas. Selena visited each classroom for one week. When she arrived, the host class sent an e-mail to the coordinating classrooms to let them know that Selena arrived safely. During Selena’s visit the host class recorded their daily adventures with Selena in her online journal. At the end of her visit, the host class mailed Selena to the next class, along with her project folder, scrapbook and her armadillo book. The host class will also e-mailed the project coordinators to let them know Selena was leaving the school and was on her way to the next school. Included in this final email was a computer-generated picture of one of the favorite sites in their city. The pictures were added to Selena's website.
