SELECTION CRITERIA FOR 2017 QUINTANGULAR

  1. The cycle for the 2017Quintangular will run from January 2016 to the end of December2016.

To qualify for selection

  1. A player must be a member in good standing of a golf club affiliated to SAGA.
  2. A player must be of such an age that he would have reached the age of 50 years by the start of the Quintangular tournament.
  3. A player must have paid the EPSG Tournament Funding fee before end May for the designated cycle.
  4. A player must compete in at least 70% of the designated tournaments in the cycle (9 to qualify). It is to be noted that the selectors may waive the 70% rule under certain conditions eg if there are not enough qualifying players.
  1. No requests for exemptions for not playing a tournament will be entertained, whether for ill health or otherwise
  2. Scores from tournaments other than the designated EPSG tournaments will not be used in the selection process
  3. The selection panel will decided on at committee level.
  4. Selection will be done as follows:

5.1The representative team will consist of 16 players for tournaments being held on

18ole golf courses and 12 players on 9 hole golf courses

5.2 Ranking Calculation:

Scores from EPSG Stableford tournaments are recorded and the best 9 tournaments are ranked as follows:-

Players average Stableford score for 9 best qualifying tournaments played are ranked from 1st (best average score) to 16th position (worst average score).

5.3Eighteen (18) Hole Tournament

5.3.1The first fourteenOOM Stableford ranked playersare automatically selected for Quintangular.

While the fifteenth and sixteenth Quintangular playerrepresentative may be selected as a wildcard.

5.4Nine (9) Hole Tournament

5.4.1The first ten OOM Stableford ranked players are automatically selected for Quintangular.

While the eleventh and twelfth Quintangular representative player may be selected as a wildcard.

The selection of wild card players (is not restricted to any minimum requirements or position on the OOM).

6Tournaments to be used for selection will be designated by the committee before the start of the cycle and are subject to change if circumstance warrants change of tournament venue.

8 Score Returns and Verification

Scores returned by a player at qualifying tournaments will be recorded into the OOM rankings table and be used to calculate averages.

It remains the player’s responsibility to return scores to the HNA system.

If a player is found to have defaulted by not entering a tournament score to the HNA system, he/she will be notified by the committee to rectify the oversight.

If the player then fails to respond to the request to rectify the oversight within the time frame given by the committee, the score in dispute will be removed from the OOM ranking table and will not be eligible for calculating player’s average.

9 Funding Quintangular Tournament

EPSG committee will approve a budget for the Quintrangular tournament relative to the financial position of the association. Should the funds available not be sufficient to cover the full cost of the tournament, players could be requested to contribute to the expense of the tournament.
