SUMMER 2017 ADJUNCT FACULTY CONTRACT: DOCTORAL - 5 Week 1 Session: June 1, 2017 – July 6, 2017

I. STATE OF MARYLAND, SALISBURY UNIVERSITY. THIS AGREEMENT, made on this day of , 20, by and between SALISBURY UNIVERSITY AND Name of Faculty Member (hereinafter called “Adjunct Faculty Member”) who currently is residing at Home Address and whose Social Security number is SSN (last 4 digits only) and whose Employee ID is Emplid. This appointment is governed by BOR Policy II-1.07 Policy on the Employment of Adjunct Faculty in the University System of Maryland.

WITNESSETH:

1. Appointment and Position

SALISBURY UNIVERSITY does hereby appoint the ADJUNCT FACULTY MEMBER indicated above as Rank (e.g. ADJUNCT I, ADJUNCT II) of Discipline to teach for SALISBURY UNIVERSITY from May 25, 2017 to July 14, 2017 (the contract termination date) in the Summer Term. The ADJUNCT FACULTY MEMBER must be available to resolve any classroom-related issues resulting during this contract period.

2. General Conditions

The teaching assignment is as follows:

The total salary is based on course enrollment and will be determined at the end of the official Drop/Add Period for this specific term. Please refer to the reverse side of this contract for the pay scale currently in effect.

3. Special Conditions

If a minimum of 5 students is not enrolled in the designated course or courses on the first day of class for the specific term, the course will be cancelled unless the parties mutually agree that the ADJUNCT FACULTY MEMBER will teach the course for the pay per student indicated on the pay scale. This contract shall be null and void unless the ADJUNCT FACULTY MEMBER agrees to teach the course for the pay per student indicated on the pay scale.

The appointment under this contract shall automatically terminate upon the termination date specified above.

The ADJUNCT FACULTY MEMBER is subject to dismissal for cause prior to the termination date as provided by law.

4. Additional Terms

[NOTE: Particular attention is directed to the fact that neither this contract nor any contract providing for alternative compensation as provided under “Special Conditions” above will constitute a valid and enforceable agreement unless signed by the Dean]

Faculty who opt for one pay distribution will receive payment on July 19, 2017. Faculty who opt for two pay distributions will receive a payment of 80% on June 21 and the remainder on July 19. If the count of students at the end of Drop/Add is the same as the number of grades posted for students who attended, this payment will be the final 20%; otherwise the final payment will be adjusted upward or downward as needed.

To certify your roster, send the Registrar an e-mail at the address after the Drop/Add period ends (June 3, 2017). The e-mail should contain the course number and section number in the subject line (ex: ACCT 201.001 or BIOL 105.002) and should state that either all students on the roster have attended class at least once or that all students on the roster with the exception of those listed have attended class at least once.
