CUB PROGRAM UPDATES 2015
JUNE 1 THE NEW CUB PROGRAM STARTS. You’ve probably heard that there are some changes coming to Cub Scouts this year! It will begin June 1 and will include new books and a slightly streamlined awards and rank advancement system.
7 OR 14 ADVENTURES. After June 1 the rank of Wolf and Bear will be achieved by
completing seven adventures. Webelow and Arrow of Light programs are combined and the boys will complete fourteen adventures in one year. Just like now, these adventures will likely be earned through attending Den Meetings and summer Day Camps.The activities your Cub will work through are very similar to the current program.
BELT LOOPS OR PINS. All awards will be either belt loops (for Wolf and Bear) or pins
(for Webelos/Arrow of Light).There will still be patches and parent pins for rank advancement. There will be no more beads or arrow points after June 1.
PARENT HELP WITH TRANSITION. Your help will be needed to make sure your Cub scout makes the transition. Because each of our Cub birthdays fall at different times of the year, each Cub will be at a different stage of rank advancement. Please check in with your Den Leader and Cub to make sure your child is on track to finish their current rank by June 1.
If you have a child with a birthday between now and June, you can choose to work through the next rank (for January or February birthdays) or just participate in the activities at den meeting and start working on rank advancement activities after June 1. Den Leaders will be able to plan activities that count for BOTH the old and new programs.
BOOKS. All books are available online. New books will be available online for free starting June 1. If you’d like to buy a book, please wait until after June 1. They will probably be $8.99-$16.99 depending on the binding (spiral bound is more expensive).

Father’s and Sons Campout: May 15-16
Cub Day Camp: June 9-13
