"57 Days"

Katelyn Headly

Although this film may not seem worthy considering it’s lack of characters, it was actually extremely difficult to produce. Having only one actor, it was hard to make sure there was a story and visuals. With a lot of thinking and planning, I finally came up with the perfect story board for such a movie. The actual story itself is worthy of being considered for an award. The amount of time this film took was approximately one month. We would film two to three times a week, and if the shot was not how we wanted it we would redo it. Filming itself was not the hardest part, however. The amount of editing in this movie is unreal. All of the sound heard is actually foley work. I worked extremely hard in order to have sounds that sounded realistic, even down to the smallest thing. Finding these sound effects took a lot of patience, but I do believe the end result was well worth it. The scene where our actor is in the kitchen cooking breakfast was my favorite scene to edit because of all of the sound effects. I also believe that the videography is of exceptional quality with clear and interesting shots. There is smooth movement without the shakiness that is sometimes encountered. Videography is an extremely difficult thing to excel at, but I do believe the quality in this movie is worthy of an award. My favorite scene with excellent videography was when the camera panned around her while she was at the park. Controlling the actor was also a struggle throughout this film. Having someone who can stay in character through such awkward shots is hard. This took a lot of talking and controlling. As the Co-producer, editor, and director of this movie, it was a huge roll for me to make sure that the actor was doing her part. There were times when she was being difficult and I had to tell her to just do it. There were also times where I had to lead her and really explain what she would be doing. It can be very hard to control people, but I do believe that I did a good job in doing so. This film took countless hours of planning, filming, and editing. Many people do not understand the amount of work put into creating a movie. Even one that seems so small, such as this one, takes so much time. The amount of work put into it is immense. One must make sure that the cuts are clean with no jumps, the voiceover sound is clear, the videography is perfect, the sound effects are in the right place, and that the movie makes sense in itself. I do believe that this movie is worthy of an award. It is one of excellence. It has a wonderful storyline that leaves the watcher in suspense until the very end. It has wonderful foley work and videography. It is all around a wonderful film that is worthy of an award.
