ABOUT

Seed Wine is a single-vinyard, boutique Malbec from the prestigious Altamira district of Uco Valley, in Mendoza, Argentina. A wine of unsurpassed complexity and balance, and who’s story is one of serendipity, adventure and love.

BACKGROUND

Entrepreneurs Tony Hartl and Alex Chang set out to climb the highest summit in Western Hemisphere, Aconcagua in Argentina. But a medical emergency on the mountain forced an early end to the expedition. While recovering in Mendoza, Tony and Alex fell in love with thepeople of Argentina and their wine. Tony began dating a beautiful, local wine expert and moved to Mendoza. This life changing experience inspired them to embark on a new adventure: to improve the lives of the people of Mendoza, through their passion for Malbec wine.

Hiring master-winemaker Giuseppe Franceschini, they conceived of the audacious goal of creating the finest Malbec in the world. And with each bottle sold, a local child receives a new school book–planting new seeds for the future.

KEY FACTS

  • Micro-vintage, boutique wine: fewer than 200 cases produced each year
  • 100% single-vineyard Malbec, harvested from an exclusive estate in the Altamira district, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
  • For every bottle sold, Seed donates a new schoolbook to a child in Mendoza
  • Harvested from +40-year-old vines whose roots have grown deep enough to reach calcium-rich deposits in the rocky, alluvial soil, creating highly structured wine with firm tannins, roundness and balance
  • Aged in 100% new French oak barrels for more than 16 months, in Mendoza’s oldest wine cave
  • A high-altitude (elevation: 3600 feet) vineyard with intense UV exposure causes grapes to grow thicker skins, which impart greater intensity and complexity of flavor to the wine
  • The high mountains create an ideal micro-climate for grape cultivation. Warm days, cool nights
  • Grown using traditional organic-style, hand-cultivation methods
  • Irrigated with glacial snow melt from the Andes Mountains
