Press Release

secunet at it-sa 2015 with new SINA product

[Essen, 29 September 2015] secunet is giving SINA SOLID its world premiere at it-sa 2015. SINA SOLID can configure extremely large and flexible IPsec networks automatically while increasing performance at the highest level of security. Further key areas at the first it-sa since the new German IT Security Act came into force will be trustworthy solutions for critical infrastructures. As part of the Blue Forum at it-sa, visitors can expect an exciting secunet presentation on today's hot topic: SCADA hacking.

SINA

At it-sa 2015, secunet will present the successful result of many years of research: the new SINA SOLID function for the SINA L3 Box. The patented SINA SOLID solution permits dynamic VPN networking, which automatically configures the connection between the individual network nodes. Thanks to this unique technology, IPsec and SINA fully retain all of their security features which also improve performance at the same time.

When used as a VPN, the SINA L3 boxes provide extensive protection against attacks on the confidentiality, availability and integrity of transmitted data. SINA SOLID considerably reduces the administrative effort in large and complex networks because the system reacts independently to changes in the network and makes manual intervention unnecessary.

The SINA L3 Box from version 3.9 contains SINA SOLID and will be available from the second quarter of 2016 with the BSI approval for VS-NfD.

Critical infrastructures

The new German IT Security Act is designed to ensure greater and more comprehensive security. Operators of critical infrastructures in particular must observe new specifications with regard to their IT systems. The secunet portfolio for critical infrastructure operators includes the set-up of information security management systems, products for intelligent network partition and for secure remote maintenance, customer-specific software development, penetration tests, certification services and training courses in the field of Security Awareness.

At it-sa 2015, secunet will demonstrate how critical infrastructure operators can protect their networks in accordance with the IT Security Act, how they can implement tamper-proof connections between networks using an integral security concept and how protected (mobile) remote access to sensitive IT areas such as process control and automation systems can be introduced. This system defends effectively against cyber-attacks, while maintaining the availability of critical systems.

Presentations

In the “blue” Forum at it-sa 2015, secunet experts will hold the following presentations on the Wednesday during the trade show:

“How to: hack into process networks live” – Dirk Reimers and Markus Linnemann show how easy it is for attackers to hack into SCADA networks and which weak spots are lurking in a network landscape consisting of classic office IT, a control network and system controls.

“How to: defend process networks” – Markus Linnemann presents possible solutions to help operators of Critical Infrastructures take appropriate technical and organisational measures to maintain the functionality of their infrastructure.

“Little effort, high IT security – even in complex networks”: In his presentation, David Ristow explains that IT security does not have to be complicated, arduous and stressful. The visitors will find out how SINA SOLID makes it possible to administer and control even complex and major networks, including all their clients, in a simple and uncomplicated manner.
