Section Marketing and Communication Best Practices

·  Use your Section email alias with a clear indication of who the sender is and provide a way for recipients to unsubscribe to comply with CAN SPAM act. (We can provide the language and links!)

·  Less is more in terms of text, especially when it comes to email and the website – Keep it quick, cheerful and to the point.

·  Proofread your copy and feel free to send it Aimée and Roberta to avoid typos.

·  Seed Aimée and Roberta on your email marketing so that we are aware of your activities and may offer support.

·  Share your list of non-members with Aimée and Roberta so that we may keep them informed of all SMPTE activities and assist you with recruitment.

·  Keep your Section website fresh and up-to-date.

·  Provide the Aimée and Mauricio with your social media logins.

o  We can assist you by pulling them into Sprout Social and augment your messaging.

o  In case the account goes dormant, or is hacked, we can assist.

·  Send photos from your Section Meetings to Aimée and June so that they can be added to flickr.

·  Schedule Section Meetings as far in advance as possible and send Aimée the information.

o  This will insure that it is added to the SMPTE Event Calendar, Monthly, Facebook Events and the mobile app is up-to-date with all SMPTE events worldwide.

o  Local media can be informed of your events so that local event calendars can list them, reaching new audiences.

·  Post your Section news and events to SMPTE’s LinkedIn Group.

o  If you are interested in having a Subgroup for your Section, ask Aimée

·  Be sure you have signed releases from all your presenters/speakers if you are filming, recording, and/or streaming your Section meeting.

·  Meetup.com is a perfect tool for discovering new individuals to attend your meetings.

o  Currently, this is in a pilot program. However, if you are interested in having one for your Section, please contact Aimée.

·  Use the VistaPrint Marketing Center to keep SMPTE branding consistent for your printed collateral, while adding local flair.

·  Encourage your Members and prospects to download the SMPTE mobile app, once it is available, so the have a quick reference guide to all of SMPTE in the palm of their hand.
