BYLAWS

A. ELIGIBILITY

All persons employed by; retired from; performing full-time work at; performing part-time work at; Government, US or foreign military personnel at; or full-time on-premise customers, contractors and vendors at; Boeing-St. Louis, are eligible for full membership in the Boeing Employees' Golf Club - St. Louis. Membership and eligibility for participation is without regard to race, creed, national origin, sex, age, or mental or physical disability. Other persons may participate as either Associate Members or Guests are defined herein. Anyone who becomes ineligible during the playing season will be permitted to complete the season only with specific written approval from the Employee Services and Recreation Department. Membership and participation is limited to amateur golfers.

Each league has the option to state the conditions of play. For examples; all play is from the blue tees, or all play is from the red tees, or play is from the blue tees for men and red tees for women. Each league has the option to restrict participation according to skill level. Example; players must have a 15 BEGC or USGA handicap index or lower. Each league has the option of using men's or women's handicapping procedures or both.

Up to 10% of the total BEGC members (computed based on the overall BEGC membership for leagues and tournaments) may be associate or guest members, as defined herein. To be eligible as an associate or guest member, an individual must be over 18 years of age and meet the requirements as defined herein.

In order to participate in a league or a tournament., each player (member, associate member and guest) must sign a liability waiver. No player may participate without signing the waiver. The player must sign for each league (once a year) and each tournament (on the entry form) in which he or she plays. The liability waiver form is filed with the Rules Chairman and kept for 7 years.

A.1 Associate Members

To be eligible as an associate member, an individual must:

  1. be an immediate family member (as defined below) of a member (as defined above) or
  2. be a qualifying former employee as defined below.
  3. complete and sign the Associate Member application form shown in Appendix A. League secretaries and/or tournament chairmen will obtain these documents and provide to St Louis Recreation Services -- S064-4200.

Each league has the option of further limiting Associate Membership in their league.

Definitions:

Immediate family member (including spouses and dependent children of immediate family members) is defined to include parents, brothers, sisters, and children/stepchildren (beyond dependent status) of employees; retirees; full-time, on-premises US or foreign Government personnel; and full-time, on-premises US or foreign military personnel.

Former employees are defined as individuals (other than retirees) who voluntarily terminated their employment or individuals who were previously employed by the company and terminated as a result of a reduction in force or as a result of a sale or other disposition of a subunit of the company. Additionally, former employees must have been employed by the company and been active members of the club for which they are seeking associate membership for a minimum of 3 consecutive years immediately prior to their application for associate membership. For the purpose of this rule the BEGC defines a member in the last three years as one who has participated in either league or tournament play anytime in the last three years. Former employees must provide evidence of their termination status such as a copy of their resignation letter or a copy of their reduction in force notice, prior to approval of their associate membership. League secretaries and/or tournament chairmen will obtain these documents and provide to St Louis Recreation Services -- S064-4200. Once admitted as a former employee, a player may continue to participate on a year-to-year basis. If the former employee fails to participate for two consecutive years (after having qualified and partipated as a former employee), he/she will become ineligible to participate under the former employee rule.

Conditions of Membership

Associate members cannot sponsor an immediate family member for associate membership.

Advance payment of annual dues is required for each associate membership.

An Associate member may not hold office. An Associate member can be a league secretary. An associate member cannot be a member of the BEGC Executive Committee.

Associate members shall agree in writing prior to approval of membership to comply with all rules, bylaws, and standards established for the safety and well being of the members of the recreation clubs. Each league secretary will obtain a signed “hold harmless” agreement from each Associate member and provide to the BEGC rules chairman. The "hold harmless document is kept by the Rules Chairman for seven years.

Associate members who violate safety or conduct rules established by the Recreation Department may have their membership revoked by a majority vote at any business meeting of the club. Dues will be immediately refunded to the terminated member on a prorated basis. No terminated member shall be eligible for reinstatement of his or her membership.

A2. Guests

Guests of BEGC Members (Associate members may not sponsor a guest) shall be permitted to participate in BEGC tournaments except the Company championship provided each of the following are adhered to. Guests are not permitted in BEGC league play.

1.A Guest Application and Waiver form is signed by each participant. This must be completed and signed for each event and provided to the Tournament Director prior to the event. After the event the Tournament Chairman will provide the signed forms for all tournaments guests to the Rules Chairman who will maintain a file for seven years.

2.A minimum of a 2 to 1 ratio of member to guest participation is maintained. The member to guest ratio is per-event does not include Associate members. For BEGC tournaments, each guest must play in the same group with the sponsoring member. There cannot be more than 2 guests in any tournament foursome. Guests cannot make-up more than half of any tournament team.

3.Recreation issues approval. Approvals must be in writing from Boeing. The BEGC Rules Chairman will provide a list of all guests to Recreation after the conclusion of the tournament, and maintain a cumulative list of guests for each BEGC golf season.

4.Employees have first priority for BEGC tournaments. BEGC member employees have first priority to tournament entries until the tournament entry close date.

5.Guests are “sponsored” by an eligible club member who is participating in the same lesson/instruction/program. In BEGC Tournaments, Guests must be in the same group (threesome or foursome) as the sponsoring member. Guests cannot make-up more than half of any tournament team.

6.Guests may participate up to once per month in BEGC tournaments. Month means calendar month; March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, etc. Guests are not permitted to participate in the BEGC Championship Tournament.

Associate Members may not sponsor a guest.

This policy has been given approval by Boeing Insurance and Legal. Violations of this policy may cause the cancellation of sponsorship by the Boeing Company and disbanding of the club.

In addition, they must have been employed by the company and been active members of the club for which they are seeking associate membership for a minimum of 3 consecutive years immediately prior to their application for associate membership. Former employees must provide evidence of their termination status such as a copy of their resignation letter or a copy of their reduction in force notice prior to approval of their associate membership. This should accompany this application for associate membership.
