Do You Have a Child Turning Four Years Old?
Registration for the Dearborn Public Schools GSRP Preschool program is now open for the 2014-15 school year. Parents with a child turning 4 years of age by December 1, 2014 can obtain an application at the Student Services Department, 18400 Audette, Dearborn. 48124, or at the following locations:
Cotter Early Childhood Center, McCollough Elementary, Salina Elementary, Whitmore-Bolles Elementary or right here at Becker Elementary. GSRP Preschool is a free half-day or full day program for children who qualify for entry according to State of Michigan guidelines. We would like for ALL of our students at Becker to have a preschool experience prior to kindergarten! Please inquire, and tell your neighbors!

Spring Break Begins April 18th!
Spring Break for Dearborn Public Schools begins on Friday, April 18th. School resumes on Monday, April 27th!
Iris Becker Elementary to Honor Mrs. Nada Fouani
Plans are moving along to honor Mrs. Nada Fouani. As you know, staff, students and the PTA will honor former principal, Mrs. Nada Fouani. Mrs. Fouani will be honored with a portrait painted by a local artist, Matthew Abraham. The portrait will be hung in the library next to Becker’s first principal, Mr. Darrell Donaldson. Plans are now being discussed for Becker’s special assembly to honor Mrs. Fouani, and to present her with the portrait. So far Becker has held two bake sales and will host a Hat Day on April 4th to raise money for this portrait. If you would like to be a part of the planning for this special assembly, please let Mrs. Kadiri know in the office.

Becker Awarded Evergreen Status!
Becker Elementary was recently awarded Evergreen status by Wayne County. Evergreen status is the highest award given for Green Schools! Congratulations to all students, parents, teachers and support staff for your efforts in making our school an example of environmental awareness.
Please help Becker maintain our Evergreen Status by keeping our campus clean and free of trash, our flowers, bushes and trees safe (enjoy our plants with your EYES, not your HANDS or FEET) by staying clear of planting beds, and our school free of graffiti.

City-Wide Art Show Winners!
Congratulations to the following students who will be recognized with their art work at the 2014 Dearborn Public Schools Annual City-Wide Art Show: Iyah Hussein, Saleh Hassan, Israa Awada, Talal Majrad, Nadien Seklawi, Malak Chami, Moaz Ahmed, Ayah Aboulayla & Ali Hachem.
Their work will be displayed at the City-Wide Art Show at The Henry Ford Performing Arts Center beginning Wednesday, April 16th.
