YOUNG PERSONS RISK ASSESSMENT FOR A WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENT

Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999

Occupational Sector / Construction
Job Title / Estate Agent
Main Tasks and duties / Estate agents are responsible for marketing and selling property on behalf of their clients. They earn their living by taking a percentage of the sales price, or rental, of properties.
Residential sales are the main work for High Street estate agents. Agents value properties, organise the advertising, show prospective buyers round and negotiate the price to be paid. Residential lettings and management involve letting property to tenants for an owner. Commercial agents handle the selling and letting of shops, retail parks, offices, warehouses and factories. Agents may put the properties they have for sale on a website with photographs and details.
Agents effectively work as negotiators, agreeing the price and terms of the sale with the client, and dealing with the buyers when offers start to come in. They try to negotiate the best possible sale for each property.
