1.4SUBMITTALS

  1. Submit the following:
  2. Product data for each heat exchanger including performance, dimensions, operating weights, pressure ratings.
  3. Computer selection sheet indicating performance including entering and leaving conditions, pressure drops, square feet of heating surface, fouling factor, etc.
  4. Operation and maintenance data.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1STEAM TO WATER HEAT EXCHANGER

  1. Acceptable Manufacturers: Bell and Gossett, Patterson, Kelley, Taco, or pre-bid approved equal.
  2. Description: Shell and tube heat exchanger with U-bend removable tube bundle, steam in shell, water in tubes, ASME Code rated and labeled, 150 psig tube side pressure rating, 125 psig shell side pressure rating, 3/4-inch OD copper tubes, steel shell, cast iron bonnett, steel tube sheet and support cradle, capacity as indicated based on 0.0005 fouling factor. Provide support stand.

2.2PLATE AND FRAME HEAT EXCHANGER

  1. Acceptable Manufacturers: Alpha-Laval, Mueller, APV, Bell & Gossett, Graham, or pre-bid approved equal.
  2. Flat plate heat exchanger shall consist of 0.4 mm-thick, pressed Type 303, stainless steel heat transfer plates, as required, to provide the total square footage of effective heat transfer area, meeting the operating conditions specified. Each heat transfer plate shall have an integrally mounted boundary gasket of nitrile material.
  3. Provide boundary gasketing in such a manner that any leakage of gaskets will not mix fluids between first and second circuits. Direct all leaks to an external portion of the plate for quick detection.
  4. Each heat transfer plate shall be “M” and “W” shaped herring boned corrugations to optimize heat transfer with nominal pressure losses.
  5. The complete assembly shall be factory assembled and tested in accordance with ASME, Section VIII, Division 1, and furnished with ASME certification and stamp for a design pressure of 150 psig to 100°F for both circuits.
  6. Plate corrugation shall support adjacent plates at evenly distributed support points, allowing pressurization of one circuit to a full 150 psig differential, without deformation or buckling of heat transfer plates.
  7. Assemble the plate package with heavy steel covers to contain the pressure utilizing alloy steel bolting of high tensile strength.
  8. The flat plate heat exchanger package shall have sufficient room in the frame for a 25 percent addition of extra heat transfer plates if required for future operation.
  9. Align each heat transfer plate within the frame by an upper stainless steel rail and a lower stainless steel guide rail. The movable cover of the plate heat exchanger shall be furnished with steel rollers, enabling movement without additional rigging or handling equipment.
  10. Provide with grooved pipe connections for mechanical couplings.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1INSTALLATION STEAM TO WATER HEAT EXCHANGER

  1. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Support on metal stand at heights as indicated. Support with hold down straps and saddles bolted to stand.
  3. Connect steam control valve, condensate line and trap assembly, vacuum breaker, pipe unions, and relief valves as indicated.

3.2INSTALLATION PLATE AND FRAME HEAT EXCHANGER

  1. Install in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Support on 4-inch housekeeping pad.
  3. Connect piping as indicated.
