PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1RELATED DOCUMENTS

Retain or delete this article in all Sections of Project Manual.

  1. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.

1.2SUMMARY

Trench drains and channel drainage systems are often used interchangeably as types of linear drains. For a basis of distinction in this document, "Channel drainage systems" is used for linear drains with bodies made of composite materials. "Trench drains" is used for linear drains with bodies made from metal (e.g. cast iron and stainless steel). Gratings for both tench drains and channel drainage systems may be available in a variety of materials including composites and metals.

Refer to the Josam website for additional product information:

  1. Section Includes:
  2. Cast-iron floor drains.
  3. Stainless-steel floor drains.
  4. Plastic floor drains.
  5. Trench drains.
  6. SMC/GRP channel drainage systems.
  7. Polymer-concrete channel drainage systems.
  8. FRP, HDPE, PE, PP,and PVC channel drainage systems.

1.3DEFINITIONS

Retain terms that remain after this Section has been edited for a project.

SMC/GRP offers superior strength and temperature-handling capabilities compared with all other composite materials defined below.

  1. SMC/GRP: Sheet molding compound of glass-fiber reinforced polyester.
  2. ABS: Acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene.
  3. FRP: Fiberglass-reinforced plastic.
  4. HDPE: High-density polyethylene.
  5. PE: Polyethylene.
  6. PP: Polypropylene.
