AGREEMENT

Agreement entered into this ____ day of ______, 2015, between the Town of Woodbury, a Municipal Corporation, located at 511 Route 32, Highland Mills, New York 10930, and the Town of Cornwall, a Municipal Corporation, located at 183 Main Street, Cornwall, New York 12518.

WITNESSETH

Section 1This agreement shall continue in full force and effect commencing on 1/01/2016 until 12/31/2016.

Section 2The Town of Woodbury agrees to provide an “on call” animal control officer to provide the following dog control services to the Town of Cornwall for the time period and rates set forth below:

  1. $35 impound fee for each dog seized Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:00PM;
  2. $100 will be added for “call out” compensation for any dogs seized during off duty hours.

Dogs will be brought to the Woodbury Animal Shelter, located at 71 Schunnemunk Road, Highland Mills New York, by the Cornwall Police.In the event the Cornwall Police are unable to deliver the dog to the shelter, the Woodbury Animal Control Officer will retrieve the dog at the Cornwall Police Department.

Section 3The Town of Woodbury agrees to accept responsibility for boarding and care of all dogs seized by any Town of Cornwall Police officer.

Section 4The Woodbury Animal Shelter will hold dogs for the time periods and rates that follow:

  1. Dogs will be held for 10 days, the Town of Cornwall will be responsible for the boarding fees of $20 per day.
  2. In the event an owner of a seized dog comes forward to claim the dog and cannot provide proof of rabies vaccination, the dog will be taken to the veterinarian for thisvaccination by the animal control officer. This fee will be the responsibility of theTown of Cornwall.
  3. After the tenth day, if no pet owner comes forward, the dog will be evaluated, spayed/neutered and made available for adoption. The Town of Cornwall agrees to pay veterinarian fees for each dog that is put up for adoption. These fees will include all costs of vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordatells, heartworm/lyme) and spaying/neutering.

Section 5Any dogs that are deemed dangerous or unadoptable for medical reasons will be humanelyeuthanized by a licensed veterinarian.

Section 6Designated Town of Cornwall employees will have access to Town boarded dogs from 8:00AM to 4:00PM Monday through Fridays. In case of an emergency, the animal control officer will meet the designated employee, within reason, when contacted by phone.

Section 7Dog owners who need to redeem their dog will be instructed to contact the Town of Cornwall Town Clerk’s Office, where any fines and licenses will be paid. Upon proof of receipt from the Town Clerk’s Office, the dog owner will be given their pet. Copies of all paperwork, from intake forms to incident report from the police, will be kept in a separate file at the Woodbury Animal Shelter for State Inspection.

Section 8The Town of Woodbury agrees to bill the Town of Cornwall each month by providing an itemized bill for each dog impounded, with date and time accompanied by a voucher.
