SECTION 08 31 00 Access Doors and Panel

AD4200 4” Standard, 2 Gasket Access Door System

AD4200T 4” Thermal Break, 2 Gasket Access Door System

1.01 Work Included

1. All access doors shall be WinTech INTEGRITY Series [AD4200 4” Standard, 2 Gasket Access Door or AD4200T 4” Thermal Break, 2 Gasket Access Door].

1.02 Testing and Performance Requirements

A. Test Procedures and Performances

1. Air Infiltration Test: With access door closed, test unit in accordance with ASTM E 283 at a static air pressure water column (WC) difference of 1” WC (5.2 psf) through 5” WC (26.0 psf) in increments of 1”, and a test at 10” WC (52.1 psf) and 15” WC (78.1psf).

a. Air infiltration shall not exceed 0.10 cfm at any of the test pressures.

2. Water Resistance Test: With access door closed, test unit in accordance with ASTM E 331 at a static air pressure difference of 2” WC (10.4 psf) and 4” WC (20.8 psf).

a. There shall be no uncontrolled water leakage.

1.03 Warranties

A. Total Access Door System: The responsible contractor shall assume full responsibility and warrant for one (1) year the satisfactory performance of the total access door installation.

2.01 Materials

A. Aluminum: Extruded aluminum shall be 6063-T5 or T6 alloy and temper. All aluminum mounting frame extrusions shall have a minimum wall thickness of .100” and all door panel extrusions shall have a minimum wall thickness of .100”.

B. Hardware: Locking handles shall be [specify handle model and manufacturer]. Manufacturer’s standard lock quantity for access door width and height shall be used. Each access door shall have [one continuous butt hinge or the manufacturer’s recommended number of 10” butt hinges] Series 304 stainless.

C. 2 Gasket Weather Strip System: Both the primary and secondary weather strip shall be a continuous, 1/2” diameter, extruded Santoprene cord set into extruded aluminum raceways. The primary gasket shall seal directly to the door panel skin with no intermediate door panel aluminum extrusions. Gaskets shall be continuous around corners – only one splice per gasket permitted on the hinge side. Injection molded gasket corner cradles shall be factory installed in all eight (8) corner positions to keep the gasket in the proper plane to seal against the door panel. No adhesive applied secondary gasket shall be permitted.

D. View Port: Factory install extruded aluminum view port in the specified access doors locations. View port day light opening size shall be as follows: [specify 8” x 8”, 8” x 12” or 12” x 12”]. [Insulated glazing shall be as follows: ¼” clear wire exterior / ¼” clear tempered interior. OR Single glazing shall be as follows: ¼” clear wire exterior]

E. Panel Foam: The entire door panel cavity shall be filled with a 2.4 pcf, two part isocyanate rigid foam.

F. Door Panel Skins

1. Interior skin: [Specify skin]

2. Exterior skin: [Specify skin]

G. Thermal Brake Frame [May be required for improved U value and condensation resistance]. The perimeter mounting frame and door panel thermal barrier shall be poured and debridged thermal barrier made of two-part polyurethane. The mounting frame extrusion shall have a mechanically staked system consisting of alternating aluminum cleats no more than one inch on center along the thermal barrier pocket to minimize the effects of thermal barrier dry shrinkage.

2.02 Fabrication

A. General: Depth of access door panel from skin-to-skin shall not be less than 4”.

B. Finish

1. All aluminum extrusions and metal skins shall remain mill finish.

OR

1. Organic: Finish [specify mounting frame, door panel and/or view port] of aluminum extrusions and [specify exterior and/or interior skins] with manufacturer’s standard baked-on polyester paint system in accordance with AAMA Guide Specification 2603-98. Color shall be [select color].
