In February FAFSA Phone-In, sponsored by CFNC is an option for students and parents who have only a few questions on completing the FAFSA. Every Tuesday night in February between 5 and 8 pm, financial aid specialists will be available to help at the toll-free number, 866-866-CFNC (2362).

Future Plans:

As you receive your college acceptance letters, join the military or secure a permanent job, please let your counselor know of your future plans. We need copies of any scholarship offers (even if you are not accepting them).

Don't forget: Every MALE student has 30 days after his 18th birthday to register with selective service.

King’s College: Scholarship Day and Open House on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Registration begins at 10:00am and program begins at 11:00am at King’s College, 322 Lamar Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204. Students/Parents should arrive early in order to schedule their financial aid appointment. While students are attending the $5,000 scholarship test, a seminar for parents/guests will be held on financial aid programs available for 2016.

AFA Teens for Alzheimer's Awareness College Scholarship Discipline: General Award: $500- $5,000 Requirements: This scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for college-bound students to give thoughtful consideration to the impact Alzheimer’s disease has on their own lives and others in their family and community. Students are required to submit an autobiography and write a 1,200 to 1,500 word essay that answers the following questions: How has Alzheimer’s disease changed or impacted your life?, What have you learned about yourself, your family and/or your community in the face of coping with Alzheimer’s disease? To qualify, students must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and must also enter a four-year accredited college or university within 12 months of the application deadline. American Institute of Chemical Engineers Discipline: Engineering major Award: $750 Requirements: High School senior intending to major in Engineering or another technical/scientific major in college. American Meteorological Society (AMS) - AMS Multiple Undergraduate Scholarships Discipline: Atmospheric, Oceanic, or Hydrologic Science, meteorology Award: $3,000-$5,000 Requirements: Requirements vary depending on scholarship; some of the scholarships specifically target minority students. All scholarships target students planning to study atmospheric science or related oceanic and hydrologic science; some require membership in the AMS to be eligible. Transcripts, test scores, letter of recommendation required. Students must include, with a completed application form, an official high school transcript showing grades from the past three years, a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or guidance counselor, and a copy of scores from an SAT or similar national college entrance exam. Belmont Abbey College - John Oetgen, OSB, Excellence in Theatre Scholarship Discipline: Theatre Award: $5,000; renewable Requirements: Any student accepted for admission to Belmont Abbey College may be eligible to apply for this scholarship. Candidates must submit resume or list of activities, including theatre experience to the Office of Admission. Extensive theatrical experience and training are not required. Far more important is a willingness to participate enthusiastically in at least two of the five major productions staged on campus each year. Charlotte Metro Area Relocation Council Scholarship Discipline: General Award: $2,000 Requirements: CMARC will be offering a scholarship to current high school seniors who have relocated to the Charlotte area sometime between grades 9-12. CMARC will evaluate the student’s academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and their response to an essay addressing the challenges associated with relocating to a new area and a new high school.
