We had a very exciting week celebrating Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all the Veteran’s that came out to visit us. We were very lucky to have Mr. Cahill (Hayden’s Dad), a Sergeant in the Army come and talk to the students about his job, what Veteran’s Day is all about and all the gear he uses to fly the military helicopters. Please see the pictures at the end of this newsletter.
Also, make sure you are reserving the date, Wednesday, November 19th for our Music Program taking place at Wheaton North High School @ 7:00. The kids have been practicing their songs for the last few weeks and you will see that they are fabulous! Get ready to Wobble Wobble like a turkey.

Story problems are our main focus. We are learning how to solve problems with: not enough information, too much information, and two step-story problems. There are a variety of ways to solve them and we are emphasizing to use the clue words to decide on the strategy.
Reading/Writing
We will be reading a non-fiction text called, “The First Thanksgiving.” We will be using our non-fiction strategies: text features, main idea and details and glossary skills.
Our writing piece is titled:
This Thanksgiving I will be thankful for… / Spelling
Our spelling pattern is to change the y to I and add ed.
IE: study- studied, cry- cried, hurry- hurried, reply-replied, fry-fried, try- tried, worry- worried

Social Studies
We are continuing our unit in Social Studies about, “People Long Ago.” / Other
· Be sure to sign your child’s green folder each night.
· Rocket Reading has begun! Please be initialing each night that your child reads and send 1 book report sheet, along with the Rocket Reading folder to school on Monday.
