Here are activities for your child to choose when practicing spelling words each night. Use one side of a paper each night. Turn in all spelling homework every Friday. Check the boxes of activities completed.
- Write or type words 3 times each.
- Rainbow write (write words using different colors)
- Make up a story using spelling words
- Write words in sentences.
- Create a poem using spelling words.
- Window spelling (use dry erase marker and write words on a window)
- Ransom words (cut out letters from newspapers, magazines, etc to make spelling words and glue on paper)
- Graffiti Spelling-write the words in different ways: squiggly, bubbled, dots, jagged, etc.
- Record spelling out words on voice recorder app on smart phone and play back to listen to self spell out and say words
- Create a word search puzzle or crossword puzzle
- Pyramid Words (please write all spelling words)
- Hop-n-Spell (hop up and down as you say each letter in a word to spell the word)
As you read, please answer only 2 of the following questions this week. Answers to the questions can come from the same story or different stories. Write answers on paper attached.
- What were the setting, character, problem, and/or resolution of the story you read?
- Choose a character from a story and describe their feelings, emotions, or attitude.
- Find a word you didn’t know, look up the definition, and write its definition.
- What is one theme or message that you understood from the text you read?
- What questions do you still have or want to know about your book?
- What connections did you make? (text to self, text to text, or text to world)
- Sequence the story. Describe what happened in the beginning, middle, and end.
