Repainted and nicknamed the “Gray Ghost,” the ship that was built to comfortably transport 3,000 peoplewas now forced to carry more than 15,000 troops at a time. Wartime tragedies were rampant. Serving as a temporary prison for German and Italian POWs, the ship saw its share of death and suicide. In 1942, the Queen Marycollided with a much smaller British shiphelping to navigate her through treacherous waters, sending 338 passengers to a gruesome death. Medical conditions, drownings and accidents account for additional fatalities, making one wonder if the Queen Mary is cursed. In 1967, the ship dropped anchor for good in Long Beach, Calif. and became a hotel, still in operation today. The 365 guest rooms are preserved exactly as they were when the ship sailed. In 2009, Darren Evens moved into a home on Hudson Avenue in Oklahoma City, Okla. He described the house as a rather odd structure, and found unexplained scratch marks inside some of the closets. While using a Ouija board with friends in the house one evening, theboard’s planchette spelled outZ-O-Z-O. Immediately something overtook the woman using it; her eyes glossed over and she was unable to see for an hour. Evens got rid of the Ouija board, but frightening events continued – including the levitation of his two-year-old daughter in front of him. Evens’ life became so unbearable that he fled the home and hasn’t returned since. Evens soon discovered “Zozo” is a global phenomenon, with originsthat stem back to the Ouija board. Robert Murch, a Ouija expert and historian, has been documenting “Zozo” encounters since 2001 – all are disturbing stories that leave those affected utterly terrified. Who, or what, is “Zozo”? Records from 1920 reveal a man named Walter Winston Kenilworth, a seer and palm reader to wealthy socialites, who called himself “Zozo.” While some think “Zozo” is an example of mass hysteria, many others believe it is something much bigger, stranger and more sinister.

ISLAND OF THE DOLLS – Xochimico, Mexico

Near the dark and creepy canals of Xochimico, Mexico sits what might be the world’s strangest and scariest tourist attraction: the Island of the Dolls (Isla de las Munecas). Fifty years ago, the island’s only inhabitant, Don Julian Santana, found the body of a drowned child in the canal. Believing the child was haunting the island, he wanted to appease her; so when he saw a doll floating by in the canal, he hung it in a tree for the child. One doll, however, was not enough to ease Santana’s troubled mind. Soon there were thousands of dolls hanging from the trees. In 2001, the story took a particularly sinister turn when Santana drowned in the canal just like the little girl he found so many years ago. Many believe that the dolls, inhabited by tortured spirits, conspired to murder the old man.
