The Conservation & Science Work Study Assistant will help advance the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s mission to inspire the conservation of the oceans by supporting the work of the Aquarium’s Conservation & Science Division, which includes the Conservation Research program, Seafood Watch program, and Ocean Conservation Policy program.

The Conservation & Science Work Study Assistant will assist with the implementation of the Division’s strategic goals, which are to: Enhance Ocean Health in California and Beyond; Protect Vulnerable Pacific Ocean Wildlife and Ecosystems (including southern sea otters, sharks and tuna); Promote Improved Sustainability of Global Fisheries and Aquaculture; and Amplify Our Impact through New Partnerships and Initiatives.

Specifically, the Conservation & Science Work Study Assistant supports the Aquarium’s Vice President for Conservation & Science in the following ways:

·  Research and produce content in support of the Division’s strategic and work planning activities, including information related to partnership opportunities with outside organizations.

·  Build and populate a database of contacts for the distribution of Conservation & Science news, updates and other informational materials.

·  Compile and organize media clips and press coverage of the Conservation and Science Division.

·  Research content for public- and internal-facing publications, including the Aquarium’s website, intranet, and fundraising materials.

·  Assist the Vice President in the development of presentations and talking points.

·  Assist the Vice President in the development of papers and other publications.

·  Conduct administrative tasks as needed, such as preparing mailings, assembling meeting binders, update the Division’s SharePoint page, etc.

Required Skills

·  Interest in and knowledge of ocean conservation.

·  Ability to multi-task.

·  Excellent research, writing and organizational skills.

·  Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with colleagues.

·  Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PPT.

·  Proficiency with SharePoint a plus.
