In Part II of this three part updated series on spiritual warfare, I want to present four areas of warfare that you must be prepared for in order to safely enter into in battle against the enemy to save your life, the lives of your family members, your friends, and those in general who seek help from you.

How did Yahuwah Train David to Face Goliath?

As we can read from I Samuel 17, young David did not yell and scream at Goliath. I know the fallacy of that! I was an ordained minister with an affiliate of the Assembly of God for years, and I saw a lot of dangerous dabbling in spiritual warfare under the façade of “intersession.” Yelling at demons doesn’t do anything but tickle their funny bone, kind of like taking a table knife to a T-Rex and expecting him to fall over dead. They laugh--then they attack you. They know who has authority to command them, and who doesn’t!

Never come against them in anger or any other negative emotion. After reading Bobbie Jean Merck’s fantastic book Spoiling Python’s Schemes,” I was so angry to have read what the enemy had done to me most all my life, especially the last 25 or so years under the spirit of python, and also done to my children, that I went into furious emotional warfare in my anger. Folks, you can’t fight fire with fire! Within two hours, each of my three daughters nearly had a tragic car wreck. My daughter-in-law felt a tight band around her waist (the python). She was about 2 months pregnant. She went into the bathroom. She said everything went dark and she nearly passed out. She heard laughter and felt pain around her waist and lost the baby. I say this with a broken heart. Never go into battle in ignorance, or with human emotion. Getting mad at the devil and going out to “tear that devil down,” as the song said, is like taking a table knife to a T-Rex. Once aroused, the T-Rex will have you for dinner, and also go after your family!

David was a gentle, kind teenage shepherd of his father’s sheep. He protected them for his father and family. He took his harp with him to play as he sat with the sheep. At night he slept in front of the sheep pen door, so that no wolf, lion, or bear, could get at themwithout going through him first. He was an expert at the slingshot, too. As he sat alone with the sheep, he sang praises to Yahuwah. He prayed. He got to know Yahuwah personally. He became fiercely loyal to Yahuwah and full of faith. Thus, Yahuwah filled him with His Spirit and anointed him in preparation for Samuel’s anointing him as the future King or Israel, forerunner of Messiah Yahushua, “Son of David.” David had many opportunities to kill lions, wolves and bears, to protect the sheep.

One day his father, Jesse, sent him to take food to his brothers who were in the army, in a standoffwith King Saul against the Philistine giant Goliath and his hybrid army. David didn’t know what was going on when he got there with the food. He wondered why the armies of Yahuwah were cowering before the army of the Philistine giant. David said he’s go fight him. David was maybe 15-16 years old at the time. His brothers laughed at him. It wasn’t pride on David’s part to volunteer. It was just that taking down the 11-12 foot giant was no problem for him. He had lots of practice in taking down vicious predators who wanted to eat his father’s sheep. He was a marksman also with his slingshot. Lots of practice went into his abilities! King Saul was an obvious sissy. He was glad the kid would try to help them. They were all scared of Goliath. King Saul tried to dress David in his armor, but King Saul was a big guy and David was a runt in comparison. David felt very uncomfortable in Saul’s armor.

Goliath came out daily to mock the army of Saul. The next time he came out David showed himself. (I Samuel 17:41-51) David had selected five smooth stones from a nearby stream to use in his slingshot. David was bold, unflinching. He ran towards Goliath!!! Not cowering, not afraid – but filled with the Spirit of Yahuwah!!! Goliath smocked him.

I Samuel 17:45, David said to Goliath: “You come to me with a sword and a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the Name of Yahuwah of Hosts, the Elohim of the armies of Israel whom you have reproached. This day Yahuwah shall deliver you into my hand, and I shall smite you and take your head from you and give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the heavens and the wild beasts of the earth, so that all the world shall know that Elohim is for Israel. And all the assembly know that Yahuwah does not save with sword and spear, for the battle belongs to Yahuwah, and He shall give you into our hands…”

David hit his target with the first stone. Then he cut Goliath’s head off with his own spear. Then Saul’s army went after the army of Goliath and defeated them.

Yahuwah backed him, but David had to do the combat! Do you know Yahuwah and Yahushua Elohim like young David did? If you do, you understand the power of the Name of Yahuwah and of Yahushua, and are bold as a lion in the face of attackers.Proverbs 28:1: THE WICKED FLEE WHEN NO MAN PURSUES, BUT THE RIGHTEOUS ARE AS BOLD AS A LION.”

Ephesians 6:10-12: “Put on the whole armor of Elohim for you to have power to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and authorities, against the rulers of darkness of this age, and against spiritual wickedness in high places - because of this, take up the whole armor of Elohim, so that you might have power to stand in the evil day, and having done all to stand, stand therefore …”

This passage continues on to present the garments of the High Priest that we, as priests unto Elohim, must have as part of our daily lives--His Truth, righteousness, our feet ready to go do His will, the shield of faith that withstands all mental and emotional attacks on the mind, having the mind set on the expectancy of deliverance, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of Elohim, praying always “in the Spirit.”

“Praying in the Spirit” is speaking of the prayer language of angels that we receive as the Spirit takes up residency in our re-born spirit. In the true new birth, we become spiritual beings- eternal beings. This language or languages bypass the enemy’s understanding. It is a powerful weapon of warfare. These are basics of warfare – along with the command, backed by Elohim, the proclamation of the Word with authority, praise and shouting of victory, joy, peace, faith, love, gentleness, compassion, and self-control – the fruit of the Spirit within the re-born spirit (Galatians 5:22-24).

II Corinthians 10:3-6: “Though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty to the pulling down of strongholds, overthrowing reasoning and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Elohim, taking captive every thought and bringing it into obedience Messiah, being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is complete.”

CLOSE ALL PORTALS, GATEWAYS, or DOORWAYSto YOUR MIND, EMOTIONS, AND BODY, THROUGH WHICH THE ENEMY CAN LEGALLY COME TO ATTACK YOU! If he can find any entrance into you because of your undisciplined life,he’ll come through--legally--to destroy you.

The enemy knows you better than you know yourself! You may think you’re secret thoughts and ways are hidden from other people, but they are not hidden from the demonic world!

Did you notice that David was fearless? He was firm in faith because he had a personal relationship with Elohim!He knew Them, and They knew Him. Did you notice that Yahuwah did not fight Goliath for David. David used the training he had as a shepherd, killing predators, even lions and bears that attacked the sheep. He also knew the power of playing his 10-stringed lyre and harp to ward off evil spirits.

Later King Saul had him play his harp because Saul was tormented by demons.

David knew Elohim! His faith was not a religious belief system. His faith was solidly rooted in his relationship with His Abba Yahuwah! He spoke to Goliath as one who knew Yahuwah. He later learned about Yahushua, who would come from his own lineage.

Read the accounts of Gideon in Judges 7 and of King Jehoshaphat in II Chronicles 20. The words of a prophet to King Jehoshaphat and his army in II Chronicles 20:17 are powerful: “It is not for you to fight in this battle. Position yourselves. Stand still and see the deliverance of Yahuwah with you. Oh Judah and Jerusalem do not fear! Go out against them tomorrow for Yahuwah is with you.”

They were told they didn’t have to fight, yet they were told to go out and face this monstrous army the next morning. So, what did they have to do? They had to form a line of conquest and show themselves openly before the vast armies of Moab and Ammon, which were greater than the army of Judah. But, obeying the Word of Yahuwah, they went out SINGING – PRAISING YAHUWAH, and the great army of Moab and Ammon got so confused that they killed each other. This “spirit of confusion” is on the Arabs and Palestinians today. I saw it so much when I lived in Jordan for 8 years. If they can’t kill an “infidel” they’ll kill each other, to this day. Praising the Names of Yahuwah and Yahushua is powerful in battle.

Abba’s methods of battle are unique, but effective!!! NEVER ADD YOUR HUMAN REASONING TO WHAT HE TELLS YOU TO DO!!! BE LIKE A LITTLE CHILD – JUST SIMPLY OBEY! (Matthew 18:1-4)

In II Chronicles 11, we read how David’s mighty men brought down giants with 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot. Some had faces like lions (hybrids). In Psalm 27:1-2: David faced Philistine giants who were cannibals. In Numbers 13 and 14 we read about the super-giant Anakim. Today we face will face Anakim. In Isaiah 13:1-3 in the Septuagint Version, Yahuwah says that He will send giants to do His will. “Demons”are disembodied pre-Flood Nephilim. They seek a body to work through. They want to use enteryour body, and the bodies of your family.The world is filled with people who are bodies for these immortal spirits.

Yes, they arebound by Yahuwah’s laws, though they’d never admit it. They are legalists. They know who has the right to tell them what to do, and who doesn’t.

Acts 19:13-17: “…But certain roving Yehuḏite exorcists took it upon themselves to call the Name of the Master יהושע (Yahushua) over those who had wicked spirits, saying, `We exorcise you by יהושעwhom Sha’ul proclaims.’ And there were seven sons of a certain Skeva, a Yehuḏite (Jewish) chief priest, who were doing this. And the wicked spirit answering, said,`“יהושעI know, and Sha’ul I know, but who are you?’ And the man in whom the wicked spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.And this became known to all, both Yehuḏim and Greeks dwelling in Ephesos. And fear fell on them all, and the Name of the Master יהושעwas made great.”

Don’t be a son of Skeva. The demons know you IF Yahuwah knows you!

If you are submitted to Yahuwah, you have full right to do deliverance over yourself, those in your home, and to cleanse your house itself. You have right to BIND AND LOOSE spirits over your spouse and your children, and anyone who asks for you to help them. (Matthew 16:19)

When you speak the command firmly, but not yelling, for them to leave, or say “I bind you in the name of Yahushua – leave now, and do not return,” things change from night to day instantly. If spirits in others are rebellious, angry, violent, or out of control in any way, speak to the spirits by what they do – like “you spirit of anger,” “you spirit of torment,” “you spirit of rebellion, get out now in the Name of Yahuwah, in the Name of Yahushua, and leave.” Then call for the peace of Yahuwah and Yahushua to fill the other person, and you too.

There are four situations that you have power to step into, IF you know you have Yahuwah’s authority backing:

I. Personal attacks on your self

II. Attacks on your family in your house, and against their presence in your house

III. Attacks on those you are in fellowship with--those in your congregationwhom you worship with

IV. To perform deliverance on those who come to you for help – including your older children who no longer live in your house. BUT REMEMBER, THE OTHER PERSON HAS TO ASK YOU FOR HELP. You can pray that they will come to you, or to someone else, for deliverance!

There is no need to scream or yell, or do hocus pocus rituals that some charismatic leaders teach. DO IT MESSIAH’S WAY! One example is of Steve Lightle, a man greatly used of Abba. His miraculous stories are found in his two books Operation Exodus and Operation Exodus II. On one intercession trip, he took some pastors to do spiritual proclamations where the gate had been in ancient Babylon. In the late 1800s, it was taken to what became the Pergamum Museum in Berlin. He had been leading the group in correct spiritual warfare. But, he felt guilty not letting the other pastors do some leading. He called on one, even though he felt something wasn’t right. This pastor went to where the gates once sat, and poured out wine on the ground, which represents the blood of Messiah, and he broke bread over it, which represents the body of Messiah. This is highlydangerous methodology. Steve knew it was wrong, but he didn’t want to upset the pastor. When they got home, one of the pastor’s sons died, another pastor’s child was in a car accident, and for others hell broke loose in various ways. He asked Abba “why?” Abba showed him that when the pastor poured out what represented the blood of His Son, and what represented the body of His Son, it loosed demons to manifest and bring devastation to their families. Steve’s family was spared. He repented. Abba told Steve that the authority had been vested in him, not the others. Oh how I learned this lesson the hard way in New York in 1991.

***When Abba gives you the authority to stand against the powers of the enemy, do not give it to another because you want to be “nice.” Use your authority that He gives you with wisdom! So much that is taught about intercession by Charismatic church leaders, actually opens doors for demons to attack. Make sure you only use Scriptural methods, not methods of human invention. I don’t care if they tell you it was a revelation from God--if it is not taught in the Word, throw it out!!! Know your boundaries! Do not go off into the enemy’s territory on your own volition. Don’t get involved with “ley lines,” or attacking anything else that’s part of the enemy’s kingdom. Going out looking to take on the T-Rex is craziness. Messiah and His Apostles dealt with things as they came along. That’s why so many intercessors – so called – have such torn up lives and so much tragedy – they are out of the will of Yahuwah taking on the enemy without His approval. We have enough to do within those 4 categories I listed above, and to keep our own lives blameless before Yahuwah! Don’t go into battle without the order of your Captain!
