1. Safe entry and swim
a) Jump into deep water, Fully clothed (long pants, shirt socks and runners), and remove these items in the water with feet off the bottom / 1A
b) Demonstrate the following:-
i) Swim 50 metres without an approved personal floatation device (PFD) the tread water or slow swim for 15 minutes / 1Bi
ii) Swim 15 minutes without any floatation device. / 1Bii
iii) Remain afloat for at least three minutes without any floatation device. / 1Biii
2. Rescue. Demonstrate the following
a) a reaching assist (arm, towel, pole etc) / 2a
b) a throwing assist (rope, ring, buoy, etc) / 2b
c) How to carry an unconscious person over ten meters. / 2c
3. Safety
a) Know the problems and dangers that can occur, or are present in three different locations or are present, in three different locations in your local area. For example sea, river, swimming pool, dams and lakes. / 3a

b) Know how to prevent and/or treat the following, sunburn, cramp, skin cancer, stings, exhaustion, leeches, blue ringed octopus and one other danger to your environment. E.g. stone fish. / 3b

1 Safe entry and swim
a) Demonstrate the following
i) Perform a forward roll into deep water, fully clothed and swim 25 meters. Remove clothing retain one item to use as a towing aid / Bai
ii) use the item of clothing retained to tow a conscious cooperative patient 20 meters, avoiding contact at all times / Baii
b) Demonstrate the following
i) swim 100 meters without a PFD, including 50 meters using any of the resting strokes / Bbi
ii) remain afloat for at least four minutes without the use of an PFD / Bbii
iii) Put on a PFD in deep water and swim 50 meters. Demonstrate the ' HELP' position / Bbiii
Iv) With At Least 2 Other Scouts, demonstrate the huddle position / Bbiv
2. Rescue
Perform a simulated rescue in one of the following situations
a) Using an improvised floatation device, use a safety jump to enter the water and swim to a conscious patient at least tem meters from the shore. Use any tow method to return the patient to the shore.

b) perform an assisted carry with approach and tow of at least 30 meters with a fully clothed conscious patient / 2b
3. Safety
Present to the adviser a list of at least ten major safety items suggested by clubs active in one of the following, swimming, yachting, power boating, surfing, water skiing, canoeing, scuba diving, board diving. / 3
