Overall Purpose of the Job

To increase community involvement with the Scottish Wildlife Trust through the development of habitat networks projects associated with the wildlife reserves.

Main Duties

  1. Through the survey and monitoring of reserves, identify projects suitable for volunteer action.
  2. Assist in the planning of work on the Ayrshire reserves.
  3. Support existing SWT volunteers and expand the local conservation volunteering network.
  4. Ensure volunteers work safely and the correct risk assessments are in place.
  5. Run training workshops, guided walks, volunteer work days and events.
  6. Regularly publicise activities, events and news through print and social media.
  7. Help develop and implement ecological network projects with neighbours and partners.
  8. Promote biological recording on the reserves and throughout the network using citizen science principles.
  9. Representing SWT at ecological networking meetings.
  10. Assist with fundraising for ecological network projects.
  11. Maintain records of volunteers, their attendance and activities.
  12. Report on work carried out on reserves and other sites.
  13. Maintain and report on equipment in line with SWT’s H&S policies and procedures.
  14. Record and submit timesheets, an annual leave sheet, mileage sheets and expenses forms.
  15. At such times as may be required, undertake relevant tasks as requested by the line manager.
  16. Comply with SWT policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications
  • Degree in an environmental subject
  • Full UK driving license
Experience
  • Having worked in a similar role
