Overall Purpose of the Job
To increase community involvement with the Scottish Wildlife Trust through the development of habitat networks projects associated with the wildlife reserves.Main Duties
- Through the survey and monitoring of reserves, identify projects suitable for volunteer action.
- Assist in the planning of work on the Ayrshire reserves.
- Support existing SWT volunteers and expand the local conservation volunteering network.
- Ensure volunteers work safely and the correct risk assessments are in place.
- Run training workshops, guided walks, volunteer work days and events.
- Regularly publicise activities, events and news through print and social media.
- Help develop and implement ecological network projects with neighbours and partners.
- Promote biological recording on the reserves and throughout the network using citizen science principles.
- Representing SWT at ecological networking meetings.
- Assist with fundraising for ecological network projects.
- Maintain records of volunteers, their attendance and activities.
- Report on work carried out on reserves and other sites.
- Maintain and report on equipment in line with SWT’s H&S policies and procedures.
- Record and submit timesheets, an annual leave sheet, mileage sheets and expenses forms.
- At such times as may be required, undertake relevant tasks as requested by the line manager.
- Comply with SWT policies and procedures.

Personal Specification
Qualifications, Training, Knowledge & ExperienceEssential Qualifications
- Degree in an environmental subject
- Full UK driving license
- Having worked in a similar role
- Project implementation
- Public speaking and practical demonstration
- Working with volunteers
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision
- Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing
- IT skills – including word processing, spreadsheets and social media
