SCONE LADIES GOLF

Last Thursday Christine Pickett and Lyn Banks combined to win their first Scone Golf Club Ladies Foursomes Championship played over 27 holes with a total of 137. They narrowly defeated Cheryl Clydsdale and Ann Cameron by two shots in this challenging format of playing one ball with alternate shots. The nett winners were Beryl Phelps and Noreen Marshall with 116 ¼ from unlucky runners up again, Cheryl Clydsdale and Ann Cameron by a quarter of a shot! NTP on the 8th /17th was won by the pair of Ruth Wallace and Judy Carmody with Ruth’s shot, and the ball winners were Ruth Wallace & Judy Carmody 122 ½ ; Steph McGuirk & June Jukes 123; Sarah Howey & Diane Taylor 124. Many a tale is to be told from the day including Steph McGuirk who was unlucky that the NTP was not on the 2nd hole as she hit a fine shot to 30 cm and set up an easy birdie for partner June Jukes!

Today Thursday August 1, the event will be an 18 hole stroke for the sixth GNSW medal and club medal including the sixth putting round. Next Thursday August 8 will see an 18 hole stableford being held and the next round of the Peter Marshall Singles Knockout.

Players should note the following program changes: The John and Elizabeth Kevans mixed event will be on Sunday September 23 and the Mixed Foursomes Championship will be held on Monday October 7.
